Got round to changing transfer box oil, local LR dealer had no Castrol oil in as specified and couldn't tell me when it was due in so spoke to my local transmission place who said it was an older outdated oil anyway and just put a high quality limited slip gear oil in so put Millers CRX LS 75w90 NT+ nanodrive, not bad at £21 a litre as thats all it takes, was also told that the older NV225 transfer boxes use a Torsen type arrangement so mechanical/ gear however later ones use a wet clutch type and need specific oil. Anyway oil was dark grey so glad its been done however no fillings or other bits of metal.

I have been running mine round the last couple of days with out issues, and spent the afternoon fixing my brothers vw touran that has been off the road for a month with electrical problems turns out it was a bad earth in the boot space that feed the lift pump and other stuff so he is now a happy bunney:D

Liking the woodburner! welcome on days like we've been having.
Love it iv had one in the workshop for years now, usually old ones off a job, this one has a crack thats not open but visible and its cast, away back too a steel unit as its more suited for my needs, and hopefully the warm weather continues 16° it was here up in aberdeenshire on Tuesday

Electrics work thankfully towbar came off a 2004 (bmw era) and mines jag era early 06 but the towbar module with bmw stamped on it works perfectly,
Soon have to see what like it is to tow compared to the td6 which was fine aslong as you used the throttle and let it rev a bit, iv actually not towed with a petrol before

Keep up posted, be interesting to see the difference, I only tow rarely, usaly the farther in law who’s always buying cheap project vans only to have them conk out on way home, like you say td6 is fine if allowed to rev a bit, I’d imagine petrol would be the same since it’s power band is over greater rev range but bigger engine may compensate. Would like a 4.2 S/C sometime and do plan on buying a touring caravan when my son starts school in couple of years, save paying stupid prices in holiday homes etc.

The fuel gauge will more faster than the rev counter:eek:

Took him out for a pleasant slow waft around the back lanes of Cheshire, mostly within sight of the big Lovell dish which was pointed pretty much at the western horizon. Hevac handbook symbol is back after a few days rest. Otherwise faultless again.

Need to glue a broken bit of cast metal.. I've got the right glue, but what should i clean the metal with? Thinking brake cleaner as it leaves no residue?
I would think so, if possible Maby heavy emery paper first get a very good key? Unless the cast if rough is to start with? What is it that’s needs gluing or what type of metal?

It's very rough to start with so should be fine.

Front sub frame on my bike.. it should be glue-able.. pretty sure it's aluminium
