Have you tried your meter on it for a change resistance to be sure?got a poorly (i think) speed sensor off my bike.. 3 pin (12v signal ground) so I presume hall effect sensor.. apparently open circuit between all 3 pins.. that means its dead, doesn't it?
yea, open circuit between all 3 in all combinations.. yes i checked the 2 probes together on the meter to check its workingHave you tried your meter on it for a change resistance to be sure?
To be sure?
Then it's scuppered! Now fix it!yea, open circuit between all 3 in all combinations.. yes i checked the 2 probes together on the meter to check its working
I isn't clever enough to fix a hall effect sensor!! New one orderedThen it's scuppered! Now fix it!
What bike is it kermy?
Electronic damper? What will they think of next..I isn't clever enough to fix a hall effect sensor!! New one ordered
It's a 2011 cbr600rr in repsol livery, though most of the fairings are missing... Trackday damage.. wasn't me!!!!
Wouldn't bother about a speed sensor on a track bike, but the electronic steering damper doesn't work without it!!!
Don't think there was any frost last night luckyDefinitely no slapping of the tank there then.. Did it freeze?
rpi have come back and said it can't be top/valvetrain. bottom end or possibly flexplate, but unlikelyWith that kind of pressure, although it wasn't tapping at the time, am i right in thinking the big ends must be healthy?
If that's the case, it MUST be a tappet? Can't see what else it can be
if i need to take the crankshaft out, is that an engine out jobby??
i dont want to go very far at all, I'll be happy to just change the big end shells if thats what it turns out to be. I really dont want to lump the engine out, but if needs must etcYes engine out job and then its a case off how far do you want to go on a rebuild
you can change the crank bearings in by dropping the sump.

cheers, thats the plan.. fingers and toes crossedPull the sump of and take the big end caps of one at a time and check the condition re torque them as you go, you may be lucky and get away with new shells,
have a read of Saintv8`s thread
