What did you do with your Range Rover today

My M.O.T tester was telling me about it 2 weeks ago and its deffo coming in for car tyres if they are around 7 plus years old. Not sure when exactly he said but it is.
The law doesn't apply to cars (or anything less than 3.5t), although the gov't have asked DVLA conduct a survey to see if it would be beneficial to apply it to cars as well. Considering it took years for this to apply to trucks, and currently only the front axle, I imagine it'll take a year or 3 before it happens.

Another thing i have just noticed too buddy is those rear number plate hangers which are for the square Jap style/size plates to sit into. Again horrible looking and i would suggest you have an oversized number plate made for the rear, removed those clips and put some 3m tape over the holes or silicoon them and then put the plate on over the holes with 3m tape. Its not uncommon for Range Rovers, Rollers or Bentleys to have oversized rear number plates on and TBH they look better and fill up some of that space at the same time.
Yeah, I noticed that, oversized plate should fix it. I’ll post some picks next weekend of the vehicle.

Like i said buddy. Its what my tester told me.

I loaded up a trailer behind mine today with a good friends DSE on it..

Now mine has a proper Zorst on it, and it wasn't until Grandad was moving her around the yard loaded up that I realised how ****ing epic it sounds.

A real low deep growl..

Woah

Anyway I took it up to her today around 20mi of hills and narrow country roads, when I got there she said the old girl could be hear from miles away burbling along She has all the mufflers including the centre one!:D

I did give her a few good prods of the throttle and yes the noise when going down narrow roads is very nice...

Anyway..

I got there and unloaded the old DSE and left..

She rang we a few minutes later and asked if I'd swap!:D

Nowt sounds better than a proper exhaust! :D

She even did 16mpg towing another P38+ trailer :D

All good advice mate, thanks. It has been waxoiled but will get it done again if I find it hasn’t been done properly. There’s no hangy fog light so I’m assuming integrated. Tyres I agree, I’ve got a freshly refurbished set of 18’s which I’m in two minds about, 18’s or standard? Radio I’m going after market so no bother. MPH face, I didn’t think that was something available, where can I find one?

Standard 16" rims ride slightly better, however the handling is better with 18s.

I prefer 18" wheels, especially comets or mondials ;)

Not mine but i had to drive an l320 3.6tdv8 it was nice i could get use to one of those:), about the same size as the p38 but boy ow boy did it drive nice with the active cruise control and the cornering stuff and 27mpg on the run i did i could live with that and the exhaust noise out the back was nice:D

Also CHECK THE TYRES for AGE on the side walls. They might look good but they might be old and with the new UK M.O.T law coming in regarding tyre age you don't want to get stung for a new set of tyres too unless you plan to change the wheels for another set and bigger size.

That is very good advice. When I bought the Jag the tyres looked fine and then the driver's one blew out at [cough]ty miles per hour in the outside lane of the M25. Kumho and 1 month out of date. Outsides looked fine but when up on tbe ramp the insides were shot.

Ebay but get one with lower mileage and make sure you change the BECM to miles before fitting or the BECM will overwrite the miles with the km value. You might be able to ptogram the real mileage with Faultmate. Don't think Nanocom can do it.

Regarding rust, your right I have yet to ever see a rusty P38, l322 however, considering that car was over £60k new it is very poor.
The chassis will be fine on a P38, but they do still go on the rear arches, just a lot slower than some of the other vehicles to leave Solihull. If you do get early signs of rust, treat it, don't do what I did and leave it so long it now needs fresh metal welding in.
