Nothing over exciting.

Still to do:

  • Rear Light Lens Clusters
  • Parking Sensor fixes (Dead)

  • What ever else she throws at me as I discover more and more faults

Had a message last night off the dealer chap who i nearly bought the P38 Vogue SE off just before Xmas which developed a bad oil leak day before i was due to collect it. Turns out it is the " Valley Gasket " and the dealer has instructed his 4x4 specialist to strip the top of the engine off and replace ALL gaskets including both head gaskets. If he is going to all these lengths to fix it which IMHOP is a good thing then should there be any other items which should be changed as a matter of course at the same time as all the top end is off so i can ask him and suggest it as i am still very much interested in the car.

I have also been in talks with a chap who is selling a rather nice 1998 P38 2.5 TD ( NON EGR model ) so an early example which he is the second owner of from new and the first owner is a good friend of his. Having had a TD Westminster previously albeit a late 02 EGR model i was just wondering if there are certain " BETTER " advantages to having an earlier model as opposed to a late example TD??? less to go wrong?? no EGR to worry about, No MAF sensor either?? all good perhaps?? Sadly lock down prevents me from going to see it and he is asking IMHOP way OTT for it too. I always said i would NOT discount another diesel P38 plus i still have all my new bits for one too. LOL

Suffers from hot-start but a lot cheaper than later models and the v8. As a collectable I'd still be looking top model 4.6 or OF.

Manuals suffer from clutch pins snapping, usually because the teflon on the clutch fork bushes have worn off and the clutch dust gets in there stopping the clutch fully engaging.

I took her for a spin before my last validation today to qualify as an aircraft technician. Clearly a combination of that drive an Chance my good luck P38 worked, because I have finally passed, almost 2 years after getting here.
It isn't offical yet, but it is a strong pass. Can't remember my course average, but it is at least high 80%. It's been emotional working with kids straight out of school

Now I can spend some time getting my P38s squared away.

Filled the LPG tank on the way to work yesterday, and have managed to empty all 75 litres in 90miles

No idea what that is in MPG but it has been fun using the higher end of the RPMs it seems to run better after a good run, she's usually pootling around at under 2000rpm most of the time ;)

sounds nice too above 4k ;)

Autobox is annoying as it tends to short shift, to get it above 3000rpm the throttle has to be near wide open! ;)

Nice having the option of 1-3 on the manual selection though, with sport mode and a new Cam recently she hauls arse! ;)
