Hi,
I just purchased a 2011 Range Rover Sport Autobiography. Unfortunately I made the mistake of purchasing from a dealer in Poole Dorset.

Believing it would be similar in price to insure as my old D2, lift kit, heavy duty bumpers, winch etc… yes to use off road, I had the shock of my life with regard to the insurance, £1100.00 later and an obligatory tracker fitted, I am wondering what the hell I have done.

To top it off, upon returning to Southampton, I discover I have an issue with the ride height sensors. Is there anything else I should be looking out for. It has fairly high mileage 120k, but has a full service history.

Any help to soften the blow would be appreciated.

Unfortunately, the warranty does not cover this. Anyway, it is a fairly easy fix.

What I was looking for was advice on anything else I should look out for, with regard to common faults.

Well take it back to them and get them to fix it under the buyer protection or whatever its called.
But anyway if you are going to fiddle and fix it yourself, If you are going to fit new ht sensors without checking if they are really the problem, yes they are easy to fit BUT, you will need diagnostics to recalibrate the system, at that point you may find nothing wrong with the sensors.

So first thing is buy a GOOD diagnostic device.
Dont know what engine you have, but if its the SDV6 3.0 then If you dont know about broken cranks it may be worth a google.

The 6 speed box is weaker than the 8 speed (think they fitted the 8 with the SDV6)

They are heavy cars so Brakes, suspension bushes.
Keep on top of the EPB adjustment as they can jam and become costly to fix.
Battery health needs to be tip top otherwise you will get loads of strange faults.
Dampness from water ingress can be a problem with all the electrics
But yours has more in common with the Disco than the Range rover underneath.

The list can become endless.

Gear lever = 6 speed, twisty knob = 8 speed, at that age both will have the 3.0 litre engine.
