Almost there!

Got to wait for the multi-hose that goes twixt the thermostat and heater and header tank, but the rest of the engine is pretty much complete.

Bought new stainless hose clips to replace the spring clips originally fitted. They work OK and maintain pressure on the hose, but they are such a pain to remove or adjust if you haven't got the special pliers to release them. I'll see how the smaller clips are, but Screwfix do packets of ten for not a huge amount of money, or even cheaper on fleabay.

Got to plug in the coil packs and fit the top bolts, one cable support for the cruise control cable and run the torque wrench over the exhaust manifold bolts.

New drive belt fitted, will probably change the oil after its first run, plus oil and air filters, all on the shelf, plus a new washer on the sump plug.

Our D2 V8 has just started leaking from the rocker covers after 60k miles.

We have a big job on at the factory now so time on the Rangie is going to be tight for a few days.

Coil packs all tight and connected up, IACV in place but the plastic inlet pipe and dampers need a good washing out inside.

Plugs to go in on the driver's side, pipe should be here tomorrow to finish off the cooling system.

Looks like a stunning job - I really the attention to detail like replacing/renewing the wrap on the loom = excellent work IMHO :)

Bit of an update:

Work and weather has stopped too much being done, every time I've been out, it has rained within half an hour, including tonight when I got out at 5pm and had to pack in at 5.40 as it lashed it down.

On a more positive note, I have replaced all of the hose clips with new stainless steel product, all of the water hoses are on bar the top hose which is arguing with the fan cowling and won't push right home. It will work as it is, but it looks crap. I'll get underneath tomorrow and see if the cowling is actually sat down properly on its locating pegs.

All of the metal water pipes are replaced with new, they are well corroded inside and not worth re-using.

So the last few jobs are here, probably an hours work. We are working all weekend on a priority job for the railways and it has to ship on Tuesday without fail. I'm building printed circuit boards as my part of the work.

My current task, building driver boards for 3-phase battery chargers.

I design the systems and do the board design/layout, and I get to build them as well! :)

Oh no, electricery, the devil's work.I've just lost the will to live.:D:D get on with finishing the engine, if the panels are late the railways will understand, just tell them you have leaves on your drive or the wrong type of snow.

For those not in the know who might feel that my workings are a little 'unusual', I am 71, just getting over breast cancer, and heart problems caused by the chemotherapy drugs, so my daily energy levels are low at best. My daily intake of 7 different drugs makes me rattle when I walk! Better than the alternative though :)

I still work full time at our family business, which is where the electronics come from.
