reet, thats a snorkel ordered for it. As we are only at the start of winter and its already flooded best to be prepared!
But you've already dipped it to the lip of the bonnet ... ... dry out the rear light connectors and give them a Vaseline swipe ...

I think I was lucky, I was going through at about 15 mph as well. (Im keen!)

Do you think I carry a pot of vaseline round in the car.... (im not from cumbria ya know!)

Ill whip em off on weds when im off (lads birthday), good idea :) worst is possibly its popped the bulbs. I had damaged the air filter from our little foray into the water, (seems to have split the air filter in half!) and it also took out the new maf i had fitted... doh!

All easily sorted though :)

Wanted a snorkel anyway for the future, but i dont like the crappy "ram air" type fitting on the top and will be fitting a nicer "mushroom" fitting.

why not electric silicone grease

Well my Tuff Trak awning and tent room with roof bars and sand ladder mounts was waiting for me in the barn when I limped home after the coolant hose episode.

Ive got the roof bars on but it was bloody cold outside and raining and I couldn't be bothered with the awning. So ill do that when its light.

Its looking like most of the coolant hoses want replacing. The one that had failed was another one where the oil from the coolant had softened it. I suspect they will all be the same. So I will go through and change the rest over the next few weeks as a preventative measure.

My new silicone hoses for the intercooler were waiting inside too, so ill fit those this weekend. All shiny and new :)

Snorkel arrived, will fit this Weekend.

I've got a cyclonic filter top to fit with it rather than the "ram air" one.

Well I've just replaced the little coolant hose. What a little swine of a thing to fit.

Also my silicone boost hoses arrived so I've fitted those too. Csbtvhearcthe turbo whistle now and seems to a little mid get up and go. Didn't spot any damage to the old hoses although 1 was very flimsy. Any performance increase is probably in my head.

Snorkels on but not connected yet. Went dark before I could finish.

Fitted a cyclonic air intake. The reality is the velocity of the air entering won't be sufficient for it to work like a pukka one, but it's making an attempt!

batch of MAP sensors arrived and i fitted one last night. Notably improved performance this morning on the way to the office. Before the pressure wasnt fluctuating much and i think the one i had attempted to clean out is still clogged up.

Cruised along at above legal speeds whereas before i would struggle to maintain 70 going up an incline.

Well chuffed :)

Snorkels in, replaced the fuel filter (it looked as if it was a decade old!)

Also fitted some headrest pillows as I found the original headrests to be completely useless. Unless I want to look up at the ceiling, it meant having no neck support. Now I can cruise along much more comfortably.

Checked coolant level again - still no loss after 2000 miles. Excellent!

Theres some slop in the steering which I am going to look at over xmas break. Feels like a panhard rod bush from the way its reacting. Its particuarly bad over lorry's tram lines!

Got an aluminium roof rack on order for it, and Ill have one of my lightbars off of that.

Sunroofs have been sealed by the P.O but its still leaking on the back one. I want to unseal them and get them working properly. Dont see the point in bodging them so they are siliconed up. Finally will check out the ABS over the break too and test to see if its just the usual wiring failure or something else.

Which Snorkel and intake have you gone for? Won't the suction effect of the turbo help out with the cyclone effect?

I've avoided fitting one so far, convinced myself that I might get too brave if I do and end up floating off down a stream :D

just got a safari one, it was about £50 from memory.

Its only the depression caused by the turbo which will create any form of cyclone, however I suspect the manufacturer has just made it look like it will work rather than do any math to MAKE it work ;)
However it does mean that its not being constantly fed with rain and leaves etc. Im not a huge fan of the ram air looking ends on the snorkels and this was just an alternative.

Im not interested in going wading with it, I might get the leather wet! Its been fitted purely for emergency use in case we need to go in and rescue someone. As it turns out we were very lucky when we went in the other week, thought better safe than sorry. Will be fitting a discreet winch to be able to use where we can instead.

Yup winch is a good option, so far I've used mine more to recover people in snow than myself while offroad. Fingers crossed for some white stuff round here soon :D

Mines a daily commuter of 200+ miles so i dont want to make it an "offroader". Road comfort is priority. To be able to pull the odd log out of the forest / winch a car onto a trailer etc would be handy though.

ill get some in the morrow. Its nothing special though, just a normal disco 2. But a bargain one at that ;)

The fancy cup holders arrived. Damn they were pricey for what they are!

4 screws and they are fitted, ready to fulfil their holdy duties
