Still a bit low on power compared to what it should be,

I've ordered a map sensor, the original is absolutely covered in ****ty crap, and although it cleaned up reasonably with some cleaner, id rather just replace it.

Will do the injector seals and washers as well.... just to be on the safe side.

Bloody hell I seem to be going to town with this motor compared to the defenders! I need to get me some unnecessary bolt on goodies to get back into the game! Well I have one of our 52" curved lightbars spare in the workshop, so I'm figuring its rude not too ;) I have sent off a design to the laser cutters for some brackets to mount it :)

Now roof racks..... I know defender ones are a bit narrower.... but are they the right height for a d2?

There is also a setting in the BCU, if I remember correctly which you need to make sure is set to unlock or something.
I did it after @sierrafery post about it.
I'm sure he'll see this and re-iterate the setting

Ah I hadn't thought about the eka. Good plan!

I thought that buying one would be a good investment as I really like the d2 and it'll pay for itself fairly quickly. As I got the vehicle so cheap I didn't mind spending a bit on tools :)

Found the front camshaft cover seal is worn and loose, causing a slight oil leak, so ive ordered a replacement. Also ordered a rear door ladder ready to get up to a roof rack.
£47.50 from JGS with free delivery. £2.50 cheaper than their ebay listing and the cheapest around I reckon.

Just seen on ebay that people are trying to sell used nanocoms for more than what they cost to buy new. WTF is going on?!

well I replaced the camshaft seal and that's sorted the slight oil leak,

also checked the coolant after having done a few hundred mile and doesn't appear to have lost a drop. YES!!! result!

Just got the injector seals to do this coming weekend and then I can get on with some goodies for it.

First 200 mile trip today. Faultless. Really pleased :)

Now, as the previous owner has de-aced it by fitting a removal kit (shame as I would have liked to have kept the ace)
I take it I can remove all the pipework and hoses to shed some weight off it? And remove rotating mass from the suspension which should help improve its reaction.

I'm surprised how little it rolls actually. Must be quite a strong arb fitted?

Had some grief with the nanocom tonight, ive not used it all week, and its been in the car getting cold. It didn't seem to have liked being left in that....

took 10 minutes to power up then refused to connect to the disco. only after an hour with the heater on did it decide to start working. Bloody annoying when your trying to sort out a problem.

Getting no air readings again. I suspect the new MAF has died.

Is there a way of checking the MAP sensor with the nanocom?

You were right, whipped the badge off and gave it a good soak of penetrating oil

blip on the key to lock then unlock and it opened right up.

I do like a nice easy fix :)

Maybe talk to black box, mine works fine after it's had the same treatment...

Well I just recued a visiter to Scotland, I thought he was an American but it turns out he was Canadian (I don't think he was too offended)

The spaz had driven his brand spanking new rental car mazda into a deep flood and killed it. Took him to the nearest pub to get warm and dry. It was prettydeep in the flood (water was up to the lip of the disco bonnet)

The lower taillights aren't working now though, and I now have a scratch on the paint that wasn't there before!!!! :O

just that from going through a lot of the floods ...enthusiastically?....ive managed to rip the spare wheel cover... doh!

Well I fitted the boot door roof access ladder today, and a new gear lever gaitor. Amazing what a cheap bit of leather does for the interior! The old one was minging.

reet, thats a snorkel ordered for it. As we are only at the start of winter and its already flooded best to be prepared!
