Vibrations

I don't think your lift pump should be tapping.

And I very much doubt if your issues are caused by a worn big end, they don't normally affect running, just make a noise.
It may be that you have more than one issue, and also possible it is a coincidence that it happened after service.

Power loss and vibration are quite big subjects, have you tried forum search?

I've looked all over the site but not had much luck.

Its the injection pump, not lift pump thats tapping.

It could be coincidence, or it could be that the previous oil used was a thicker grade to the one I've used, masking these problems. But this wouldn't cause power loss

It's high on the list of to do's, but it appears to be an engine related problem. I think the under load judder is unrelated, but mentioned it just incase it was a clue to the problem.

Push it higher up the list immediately after valve clearances.

You might easily have lost a valve cap which'll throw the clearances miles out which will effect performance.

Get the basics right first when looking for a problem.

It's not driveline, with it in neutral and the engine held at steady revs it still does it. It doesn't sound right at idle either.

Could be, quite the coincidental timing if it is!

You dint look very far for the power loss freds! :)

It's developed into a squeek now. I drove about 10 miles tonight and it felt like there was a dry bearing/something tight making a very faint werring noise, but hard to tell over the road and engine noise. Then it became noticably less powerfull and when I touched or let off the throttle there was a loud squeeking noise. There is quite a bit of play in the drive train when lifting the throttle and a clunk, but I changed the ball joint and all rear bushes last week. I had put it down to worn hubs/shafts.
When I stopped I put my hand on the axles and boxes and the transfer box was hot. I tried driving it in low box and there is no play or squeek.

Tbox knackered?

When did you last flush your transfer case? And did you do it right? I know, but it's so easy to get wrong if you haven't done it in a while. It's the one on the flat back of the case, behind the handbrake drum, matching axle drain plugs. Flush it thoroughly (props off, drain, fill, turn over in 5th and reverse, drain, fill) and see if that helps. If not you may be looking for a rebuild.
When did you last check your timing belt? Regardless, I think you want to have a look.
Power steering belt is quite close to the injection pump, so check that thoroughly for condition too. Could be causing a ticking noise if dirty or worn.
Have you had a good look at those hubs and shafts? Dead easy to pull, and never hurts. And what about the rest of the drivetrain? A prop shaft joint worn (prop off and check UJ bearings for play) or flange loose (make sure the bolts match and tighten them up) can both make a hell of a racket,.and something caught up and wrapped around a flange (transfer case output and diff input) can wreak all manner of havoc.
Rocket shaft seats.
Without knowing where all the noises are coming from it does rather become a matter of going through the parts catalogue.

Its trans related, 5th and reverse are really stiff to engage. Its not the shifter out of adjustment either.

Or indeed checking if there is any gearbox / tranfsfer case oil TBH. If a box is doing that sort of thing especially getting very hot it sounds like a lubrication issue somewhere... Could it have been leaking during the driving and not while stationary so no telltale drippage?

I've picked up a new box, with 200k miles on it I think it's fair to say it might be ready for replacing

Make sure you check the cross drilling needed for the connection between transfer case and gearbox to stop the spline wear issue etc...

If you have time I'd be rebuilding the replacement box first, at the very least new bearings considering how cheap they are.
