Ah, It was number 14 I was on about.
could it be fronr/rear alignment? when ya tracking woz checked was it 4wheel alignment or only the front two?
you always get an element of "pull" to the kerb caused by the camber of the road. Some cars are also designed this way, so that if you are no longer in control (heart attack?) the car will run off the road and not across the road into other traffic.
Useful point MHM but its fine on all four corners. Still does it when prop is off as well.
That's the next one on my list to do. Have you had expericnace of this one causing vibration problems?
Not sure if this is connected or not, but my car pulls to the left hand side. There is play in one track rod end and I am replacing that at the weekend. Interestingly enough, a guy on another forum has trouble with his car (same 2.0L Freelander) pulling to the left but he cant find anything wrong, no play in bearings, steering joints etc. But, and this is the interesting part (well almost ) he's car has a distinct vibration at 1700 rpms too! Coincidence?
Tiny did suffer from something similar - yeah. Used to get louder the further your right foot went down in low revvs then just go as soon as the power really kicked in. I replaced the tie bar and all went quiet for a while. It returned a few weeks later so I went on a mission banging panels with my fist and found that most of the front wing screws were loose. Once all was tight and strategic padding placed between panels it all went quiet again...until recently....
The vibration is back. It seems to be from the N/S/F and sounds like vibration from the l series is going straight to the chassis. No pulling to the left though. If I go easy on the gas all is well but put my foot down in low revvs and - "grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Hummmmmmmmmmmmm"
I'm not sure if this has already been mentioned, but I had my FL in at a main dealer today for what maybe the same problem. When I picked it up, the service guy said that there had been a technical bulletin issued to cover the problem, and that a modification to the gearbox damper had been performed.
Maybe worth a look??
Oh dear. So still no Joy then? Sounds identical to Tiny with the vibration. Hmmm...thinking caps on then. Just to check this is the same problem - does it drive fine on light throttle but as soon as you put your foot down you get a "grrrrr..hummmmm" like you are in the wrong gear (but you are not) which eventually goes further up the revvs?
In fact - just had a thought...isn't there a bracket from the IRD to the block which has a habit of breaking and causing vibrations?
Ah - got it!!!
Worth a look do you think?
