Hi Ade, the first thing to remember is that Disco1's weigh 2100kgs approx and they only have 111 to 122bhp, so they won't be romping up hills any time soon !!!

However, there are are number of normal modifications which can easily be done to improve the performance, but I would suggest that you need to start with a baseline created after a good service which would include changing the engine oil & filter, the fuel filter and most importantly the air filter.

You can get a set of filters for £6.28+vat from Paddocks, so at that price why wouldn't you??

Filter Kit - Disco 300TDI

After the service she how she runs and if you are still dissatisfied we'll move onto step 2

Cheers & good luck

Dave

aye agreed with biglad, also clean out the sedimenter.

just a word of warning - if you want to go down the performance road, why you would in a disco i dont know but hey, make sure the engine is in good condition, thats a fairly early 300tdi so its probably done some good miles? if you just jump in turning the boost and fueling up and its got a weak point then it wont be with you very long :)

I have had the same problem with mine do all the filters and should come good but they are not a real powerful machine

As a couple of you say, the 300TDi is no sportscar, but mine bowls along pretty well up to about 75 mph, and if you keep it between 2000 and 3500 revs it sails up anything around here - and the Peak District is, well, peaky ... Mine has done 167K miles but been well looked after and has had new filters etc at least annually. Give it a thorough service and see what you think then. Just don't expect it to be a Ferarri (or even a Peugeot 3.0 V6 like my wife drives - even that feels really fast after the Landy and so quiet too!). Just enjoy the scenery chugging by as you peer over the stone walls and lesser vehicles.

oh i forgot to say - if you only just got it then check/adjust the tappets.

amazing how many home mechanics don't do this, my old mans tdi was crappy when he bought it but 3 hours after i got it home i'd done the tappets with filters and oil and it transformed it.

When i first got my 300Tdi (M reg) i did all the filters and when filling with new oil i stuck some slick 50 in with it. I use slick 50 in all my cars at first i used to put it in and drive around for a while so i did'nt notice the change imediatly but i did one and left it ticking over for 30 mins then went to bed next morning it went like **** of a shiny shovel Ok then it made a vast improvement and it also makes them a bit quieter and wait for it MORE MPG.

thanks for all your help I've changed all fillters an oil going to give that egr thing a go ive seen on this forum.!!!!!!!!
thanks again very help full thanks landyzone.:D
