git! it's getting just like ebay in here! fine, £75.21.5.6.9.1

:p

Bugger. think i might have to admit defeat on this one else it could go on forever and next thing i know the £50 cheap landy is costing me £80 or £90.
I'll check down the back of the sofa for some more change, but its unlikely.:(

"few hundred quid rusty disco" hehehe. That's a thing of the past.

is that the "snow tax", or have they just gone up generally? when I was looking in the summer, there were still a few around... still - the main source is crap generally for motors now (ebay)... everything seems to be overpriced!

I haven't looked at the prices of Discos recently. I had a little look a while ago and concluded that my £375 MoT failure, was a bargain. Others have done better than me though, and gotten one for £250, or £200, or free, etc. Others haven't done so good. I've seen ones no better than mine was, sell for £800 without tax or MoT.

Fast forward a year. All the MoT welding done, a bunch of other small mechanical niggles attended to too, new mud terrain tyres, new winch bumper + winch, new higher capacity battery and alternator and I think I'll keep it for a little while, since its reliable in the winter cold starts and has a nice powerful heater. Sure, it has a bunch of cosmetic issues and there's a few other things to do (new dampers, which I have waiting to go on...) but I've had a lot of fun with the car and will continue to do so, now that all the mechanicals are sorted out long-term.

I looked at other Discos and cosmetically good ones, but with underlying welding and maybe mechanical work required, fetched £1000-1500 a few months back. One with no obvious faults were going for £2000-2500.

What prices are you seeing, in general?

When I was looking for mine 3 months ago they were all around £1500 for the spec I wanted. (tdi auto) and I snapped up mine for £900 just because the welding had been done.

Otherwise it's quite rough, with no service history, 220000 miles, well worn interior, rough running and poor brakes.

It was the cost I was willing to pay to get one in my budget for winter and being handy with the spanners (but not the welder) I have now got a reasonable disco. Not bothered with the cosmetics yet apart from a replacement steering wheel as the old one was well worn out.
