Snowy again so back to needing 4wd. Front prop was damaged last year so spotted an ad for 2nd hand full shaft (front, back & vcu) at good price nearby.
It was off a V6 but hey, a propshafts a propshaft eh?[emoji45]
Well, answer is yes, pretty much but the VCU's are different as shown below.
Questions are, what difference will it make? Can I just use the full V6 prop as is? Do I have to fart about changing over the VCU's?

Ps I love my Freelander but why does it never make things easy. [emoji26]

I'm guessing here but other more knowledgeable fellows and fellowesses who may comment but I'd say the V6 one would be slightly bigger to handle the higher torque/power output from that motor. It may be 'stiffer' by design too. If you fit it to a 4 cylinder FL it may not work as you'd like it - lots more wheel spin before it does its job? Beside, would it actually fit in the FL1 4 cylinders prop shaft assembly?

On another point your photo shows the top VCU from your FL1 4 cylinder - it hasn't got a harmonic dampener on it? But the V6 one does.

v6 vcu doesn't have the damper fitted. We assume it's due to the engine being smoother.
v6 front prop is different to the other engines I think.

Thanks guys.
Both front props appear to be the same.
Will I have to swap the VCU's round?
Will it cause damage if I don't?

My 2003 TD4 has the harmonic dampener does that mean it was of a V6 to my knowledge its been on the car for at least 6 years

For info, as think may be causing some confusion, top VCU in pic is the V6 one bottom is the TD4.
Thanks Rocco, found it. Appears damper is virtually only difference.
Gonna go ahead and fit full unit on basis that if gives any probs will then swap VCU's.
Just need to decide whether to get standard support bushes or the V6 ones which ara apparently 20mm lower!!!
Never bloody easy eh!!! [emoji4]

I'd be seriously tempted to swop over the VCUs, if you know your one is good then why take a chance on the V6 one? The damage a fooked one can cause makes it a sensible choice.
