As some of you may be aware i am converting my 90 from a 200tdi to a 3.9v8, i have bolted the block to the gearbox, gearbox onto 300tdi crossmember and fitted the propshafts so i know everything is where it should be.
I’m ready to fabricate the mounts to pick up off the 200tdi brackets.
My question is, does the engine sit level forward to back or does it lean back as in higher at the front?
Obviously i need to get this right before i begin fabricating the mounts.

I have looked at possibly thousands of photos on the internet now!
I also had the opportunity to look at my brother in-law’s discovery 2 but couldnt really get a level on the engine anywhere.

The engine definately leans back.

In the photos i’ve looked at it looks as though if you put a straight edge on top of the front crossmember (leans forward) it would align with the centre of the crankshaft.
Does that sound about right?

Wish I could help but honestly if I did it wouldn't tell you anything useful!
One of the vehicle customiser types might be willing to give you some advice if you're nice! I must admit I don't know any off the top of my head, but I'm sure a bit more googling will get you there. If you try 3 or 4 one will probably be in a good mood ;)

Don't know if this helps Mike...this is v8 in my 101....the box section at the bottom is chassis rail which is straight and flat...you can see the slope of the engine higher at the front...also spirit level on inlet manifold between carbs confirms that...can try measure night of mounts from chassis tomorrow if any help...
