Hi. Got a 2001 V6 that "judders" when ticking over in park and/or neutral. It is fine when a slight load is applied i.e. put into drive or just with the air con running. Rev counter shows about 750 rpm at tickover which the book says is ok ? Any suggestions please ? (prefer not to resort to matches yet though )

dont forget on the Jatco box - its a bugger - shd use diagnostic kit to check temp - must be betwen 35 and 45C and level plug is easily confused with other bolts underneath box which destroys innards if yu remove rong one!!!

eggsactly! bitch aint it

there yar Raj ans Slob - wotcha fink of that then?

Not being very bright about these things , would the gearbox oil level cause this if drive isnt selected ? I may not be describing the problem very well.It is a bit like the tickover level is slightly too low.

the printin was a bit iffy but if i read it right then you have to drain some off then top it back up again. fookin weird..

its got nothing to do with the gearbox, more than likely an air leak into the engine or possibly head gasket letting coolant into one of the cylinders.

take the engine cover off and check all the plastic pipes, they're prone to breaking as they're very brittle. make sure its not using any coolant

;) nah nah - I nevva said it Raj ;)

Finally had a chance to check the pipes as clutchdust suggested but no obviuos cracks found. Still hasnt lost any coolant so assuming its not HGF.Anything else I can check for before going through that rigmarole to check the gearbox oil level ? Thanks in advance.
