Ok so heres the problem, 3 month ago my gearbox solenoids went bad and i had to rebuild the gearbox, after it everthing was good every shift was smooth, no f4 errors, i live in a traffic zone so never exceed 50 km/h in a normal day... But few weeks ago there was no traffic at all and my freelander could run free, but then i noticed it ... At a overtake attempt, pressed the gas and had a downshift everything good but it wont red line u know the normal change for a hard overtake "6k rpm territory" ... It changed every gear at 4.5k rpm with the gas to the floor in drive or sport, same thing... Only if i change manually to 1 or 2 it will stay on gear till high rpms ... Is it a kind of limp mode ? Theres a way to reset the gearbox and relearn the gears ? Help ! Ty :/

Will the engine rev above 4000 when it's in neutral? Not ideal to do this for long but helps to know it can to assist the fault finding process of elimination.

Hi hippo, yes the engine rev up normally and hits 6k rpm no problem, when i lock the gear on 1 or 2 postition it will rev to high rpm just as normal , the problem its in drive, sport or triptronic ... Its a software or sensor related i think but i dont know where to start looking

With the 4.5k rpm shift point sounded like max revs for a diesel...
I know ... Its weird, guess ill change the kv6 for a td lol, im stucked dont know where to start, should it be the ecu? Maybe they changed it to a diesel tranny ecu and they didnt say it

What part number is on the side of the autos computer? It's the small one in the L shaped plastic box under the bonnet. Should be something like UHC500120

The gear change request comes from the engine computer so yer wouldn't think there was anything wrong with the autos computer if it can hit 6k revs int manual first.
