I have just bought a 51 plate 5dr, 2.5 v6 freelander, it was purchased as a non runner.
Basically the thing will start and tick over fine, but when i press the throttle it refuses to rev past 1800rpm, the throttle linkage works fine and the vehicle has had a new TPS fitted, and is not showing any management lights. Being a former mechanic i removed the inlet manifold (found a fair amount of petrol smelling gunk inside) and did a compression test, they all came out at around 175psi. The plugs in the front bank of cylinders looked a good colour, whilst those in the rear were soaked in fuel, however when i checked them outside the engine i get a lovely blue spark, (from all the coils).
I have also checked the Cat, which is fine.
I have been fiddling with the thing now for about a week, and am considering breaking it if a fix cannot be found,
Any help on this would be much appreciated.
