Hi all

I am re-building my Land rover 110's dash into basically a bespoke setup that would look suited to a non-standard military design.
I would like to replace the Defender ignition switch/steering lock assembly with something that can sit pretty much anywhere on the dash (i.e something like a Series 3 and earlier), i understand that i would be abolishing the steering column lock in doing so but i consider this to of negligible benefit security wise anyway and easily superseded by a steering wheel lock.
My core question is, can i use the Series 3 Diesel ignition switch (PRC2670) on a 200tdi engine? considering the pre-heat system etc.

Thanks

Luke

Not sure on the s3 switch but as there were diesel series 3 it must be possible.
Series 2 ign switches are basically rotary lights switches with separate switch to fire the starter motor

Thanks Lynall, i've managed to allow space in my rebuild design to accomodate the exisiting setup, i've also bought in the past but not yet fitted, an Xeng steering column lock security shield. It's designed to prevent the lock being sheered off with a flat head so i guess i get to use this rather than ebay it. Thanks for your help.

Knowing land rover I wouldnt be surprised if the s3 and 90 ign locks were the same thing!
