Uprated alternator for 200tdi

Hi all I'm after a better alternator for my 200tdi disco engined 110.I'm sure mines only the 45 amp and it's starting to struggle now ..I remember once that it was poss to get them rewound or altered to get them upto 90amp but is it cheaper to just get a secondhand 90amp ??
Or if anyone wants to sell me a suitable one ....

I use a 100 amp one of a range rover v8. Came with a serprentine belt fitting but swapped the pulley and some appropriate spacers from the old one onto it and it works a treat. Cost virtually nothing compared to a new uprated one. The only thing I would warn about is that it needs the belt re-tensioning far more often as it will start to slip sooner due to the higher resistance.

Standard Disco 200Tdi alternator is 65A and has the V belt pulley you need and you can grab a 300Tdi alternator which pumps out 100A and all you need to do is swap the pulley out and you're golden. All of which can be found very cheap and very easily.

Just be sure to swap out your alt to harness wire for a higher gauge wire to cope with the current.

Thanks for the replys.....don't suppose there is anyone with either a 300 tdi or v8 alternator for sale before I go onto evil bay and get one without knowing the history ..
