Unusual SLS Fault

The wife came into work today to pick some stuff up.

on the way in we have some viscious speed bumps, she hit one of those and the suspension lifted all the way up at the rear..
she parked up and the suspension wouldnt settle. i noticed the right hand ride height arm had come off the trailing arm on the suspension,the rubber had snapped, when i touched it it moved and the suspension then settled right down (tyres are right under the wheel arch) and now it wont rise at all

any thoughts on this? i didnt get a chance to see if the other one was ok and now cant see into it as the tyre blocks the view.

im kinda desperate here, i need the car for tomorrow but cant afford to get it recovered to a garage and fixed, i have access at work to jacks and axle stands and the ability to replace items, our local 4x4 garage is good with getting parts at short notice too

Could your local 4x4 garage get hold of a coil conversion kit at short notice? Got our TD5 D2 converted the first time we hit a major SLS issue after we acquired her, and we've never looked back - I mean, there's only 1 thing can go wrong with a spring!

Only rub is I didn't do the job meself, so perhaps others can chime in on whether it's achievable in the time you have available. IIRC, you would need to nudge the BCU to tell it it's on springs to avoid dash lights and chimes, but it might be possible to leave that until after the weekend if you can get some decent ear defenders

When mine snapped i managed to ty-rap it back together lasted a couple of months till i could be arsed to change it

By the way if you get a new arm it will need to be calibrated onto the car using special blocks!

Until you get the height sensor arm back on ( tie rap best quick fix ) the car won't know where it's at with its heights . Once back one . Sit in car all doors closed ,should then level it's self out .

You can replace the sensors without the calibration blocks. Just disconnect battery, replace sensor. Reconnect.

An emergency fix for that is to take off the compressor housings cover, unplug all the connectors, make an improvisation with wires as to feed directly from the battery the compressor and the two air supply valves at the same time...the car will rise then, be carefull and cut the feed when the car is aproximately(visualy) at the corect height as to not overinflate the bags... leave all the plugs disconnected. As there are no leaks along the system it will stay on level for days...at least untill you fix it for good...make sure you dont mix the plugs at the valves when you put them back after you replaced the sensor, attached you have a scheme
