Hi landyzone community I'm about to purchase a range rover 2003 registration it's a BMW turbo diesel engine what can do to make it ulez compliant if that's all possible thanks 👍

It would involve an engine and management swap and a whole lot more that is if it is even possible, it would need adblue tank and far more cost than getting one that is compliant, other option is to go for a petrol one and spend the money you would have spent for the conversion on fuel :vb-biggrin:

Petrol cars must meet the Euro 4 standard for nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions, emitting fewer than 0.08 grams of NOx per kilometre driven.

Diesels must meet this same benchmark for NOx emissions and must also produce fewer than 0.0045g/km of particulate matter, in accordance with Euro 6 standards. If you can prove your car is under this limit you can get it on the list.... Your emissions should be on your V5, if it isn't I suspect you're either non compliant, or it's going to be the devils own job to prove it.

Motorcyles are a lot easier to get on the list. You just go and have it inspected and if it passes they'll put it on.... I'm not sure this is possible with cars though!

Interesting. I just checked and seems K*** Khan is a greedy b******. Glasgow allows blue badge vehs to enter free of charge. As do a few others.
So in answer to the question, depending on where you live, being disabled will make your veh ULEZ compliant 😉

*Boris Johnson announced the plans for the ULEZ in 2015. It's possible he was lying of course.

Engine swaps wouldn't make a vehicle compliant, it's the OEM engine that counts. But, that means you could get a 4.0 P38 which can be registered as ULEZ compliant, and then stick in a LS motor and still be golden.

Possibility of lying from a politician = 100% 😉
Khan has had every chance to understand the disabled cannot just park up and jump on trains/tubes/buses/taxis. Many have their vehicles adapted, so they can be mobile. Or thay may be carrying luggage, or going shopping so will have bags, or any of a myriad of issues.
It seems to be, with the exception of a handful of English cities, a Scotland-England divide. All ULEZ/LEZ areas in Scotland exempt all disabled drivers/passengers. From blue badge to disabled class vehicle.
There also seems to still be a handful of places in England where the diesel L322 is compliant 😁👍

I thought disabled registered cars were on a grace period until sometime in 2027....? And there was one for people recieveing some disability denefits I thought, and then after that there is a scrappage sceme, but yes I agree that England could take a leaf out of the Scottish book when it comes to governance.

The difference is whether the vehicle is registered or whether the person has a blue badge. The criteria for getting the vehicle registered is not straight forward, not every blue badge holder meets the criteria. Also the registration is only for that vehicle. Whereas the blue badge is for the person. Should they travel in more than one vehicle, be they driver or passenger, they just take the badge with them.

That can't be true? If i put a Tesla motor in my car, it still won't be compliant? That's plain stupid

Just keep it registered as a 4.0:cool:

How many peeps in the Uk actually change an engine number/size, when they change?
I can tell you OF didn't when they fitted the 6.3 in my RR.

As long as you have a compliant vehicle to start with what's the problem what you actually have under the bonnet 🤔 :p.

Or just go old an dirtier🤔.

Impossible to pass the MOT in France if the numbers do not match.

Yep same here. which is why I know, and had to go through the pain of getting the engine number/capacity changed with the DVLA before I could get it registered here :).
