Tyre decoding

Hi,

I need a new set (x5) AT tyres for my SWB series 3.

It currently has Nankang 'wide conquerer' 7.50 x 16 on what I believe are early discovery steel wheels. I can't seem to find them now so assuming they are no longer made.

Im quite happy with the overall look of the wheel/tyre so I need to work out what the modern replacement/size is. I've had a google and search on the forum but I'm clearer struggling to decode what the modern equivalent is ?

Plenty of 7.50R 16s still made, and available. Remoulds are quite adequate for a Series.

This one^^.
235’s May be the closest metric size to a 750. But they are still not a 750. As said plenty still around and there are company’s now making original pattern copy tyres as well.
e.g. Deestone extra traction is the old Goodyear xtra grip.
I’m fairly sure there is someone making copies of the old general super all grips as well.

I run 235/85/16 BFG All-Terrains and one the LWB rim they meansure up very close to the stated size for the 7.50 / 16, BUT, that's on the LWB rim which is on the limit with this size, and when I looked at other makes of 236/85/16 I was suprised how much the actual size and shape varied. So I would say some 235/85/16 are very close in size to a 7.50/16 but some are not.

Very much the case with all tyres. The sizes on the sidewall are nominal sizes, and the actual tyres vary widely between makes.
Anybody who is dead set on having tyres of a certain actual size needs to measure an actual tyre of the brand, tread pattern, and size that they are interested in.
