Hi all,

Im still rebuilding my 1981 S3 109 with 200tdi (from Discovery).

Ive just fitted new rear fuel tank, so time for pipes. I have repair operation manual, parts catalogue and google, but still struggling to be sure what diameter pipes I need.

I saw one video on YT that said 5/16 and 3/8 are needed - are they outside diameter? The pipe connections on tank look like they need those to be internal diameter - I mean, they look bigger.

I know I need different fittings at either end for the series tank, but 200tdi engine. But just stuck on the pipes needed, which I was looking to buy off the roll so to speak.

200tdi 8mm inner from tank to lift pump and filter to inj pump.
6mm inner return to tank I do believe.
Well, it is on ours anyway.

As a rough rule flexible hoses are measured inside diameter, and rigid pipe is measured outside diameter.

Sorry folks, back again

I now have some 8mm and 6mm pipe.

I think I also need the 13mm pipe that runs as balancer (this is a diesel rear tank 109), then another 13mm piece for breather?

Then the 6mm and 8mm are feed to fuel pump, return from injector pump right?

But I see on some videos the use of compression fittings for both these at tank? Where can I get those?

Cheers again!

On our Ninety it's 8mm to lift pump, the lift pump came with a new pipe to the filter, then it's 8mm to the injection pump. It's 6mm going back to the tank.
Bear in mind it's a conversion but still fuel pipes should be the same.
With regards to the rear tank on yours I am no help.

cheers - yeah at the engine end (200tdi) this all sounds right. Just cant figure out how to connect feed and return to tank itself. Workshop does not show it as I can see, but some vids seem to show compression type fittings.

Both the feed and return flanges measure same 8.12mm OD. But presumably I need some compression type fittings here to connect the 8mm to feed and 6mm to return. Pic attached.

Ahh, think I am over thinking this. I think its just standard fuel couplers I need on each of the feed/return pipes, that compress fit to those pipes on tank. Will mess with getting a few from plumbers see if they fit. Just cannot see a LR part for them for the diesel 109.
