Turbo problem

Hi all i have a 51 plate freelander td4 2001 model i am having some problems with the turbo! it doesn't seem to kick in any more and i seem to be getting some heavy knocking from the engine bay when raising the revs.
The car has just had its prop shaft and IRD replaced.
Can any one help its doing my head in!!!

Good thread i guess we have to change the filter , engine oil and crankcase breather more often to avoid turbo failure.
