Odd issue has raised its head.
When driving up a steepish hill, loss of power and ‘Engine system fault’ message on dash. No other lights.
Turn off and restart and problem solved.
Reading internet, suggestion is turbo actuators or split hoses to intercooler. Not done any fault codes yet.
Will probably replace hoses as matter of course.
Thoughts?

Hoses is probably a good place to start looking, but reading codes would better to narrow it down quicker maybe.
Remind us you have the 3.6 TDV8?

Yes the TDV8
It’s feeling a bit sluggish now I think about it…

Or a split inlet manifold. They love those. Get your codes. Is it a 3.6? If so and you have a "boost correlation fault" it will almost certainly be a boost hose or a split manifold. I've had both go on mine. When the boost hose went, It actually split under the unit-abrasion sleeve so It wasn't obvious at all until I drove 9 hours through France like it and then found it the next day when I got home. Had a long chat with myself about checking things properly after that episode!

Whereabouts on the manifold do they tend to split? And would this cause a bit more smoke under hard acceleration?

Did you resolve this issue? I have started having this intermittently as well and as yours it tends to happen on an uphill but it can be fine for days then perhaps twice and again a few days later.

hoses can delaminate inside also. Can ‘flap’ closed inside only under certain conditions, to begin with, causing it to seem intermittent/smoke while looking okay at first glance.
Thank you. I will strip them off and give it a proper look over at the weekend. The EPB has a fault red light and beeping it's head off as well.
