Odd issue has raised its head.
When driving up a steepish hill, loss of power and ‘Engine system fault’ message on dash. No other lights.
Turn off and restart and problem solved.
Reading internet, suggestion is turbo actuators or split hoses to intercooler. Not done any fault codes yet.
Will probably replace hoses as matter of course.
Thoughts?

Hoses is probably a good place to start looking, but reading codes would better to narrow it down quicker maybe.
Remind us you have the 3.6 TDV8?

Yes the TDV8
It’s feeling a bit sluggish now I think about it…

Or a split inlet manifold. They love those. Get your codes. Is it a 3.6? If so and you have a "boost correlation fault" it will almost certainly be a boost hose or a split manifold. I've had both go on mine. When the boost hose went, It actually split under the unit-abrasion sleeve so It wasn't obvious at all until I drove 9 hours through France like it and then found it the next day when I got home. Had a long chat with myself about checking things properly after that episode!

Whereabouts on the manifold do they tend to split? And would this cause a bit more smoke under hard acceleration?

Did you resolve this issue? I have started having this intermittently as well and as yours it tends to happen on an uphill but it can be fine for days then perhaps twice and again a few days later.

hoses can delaminate inside also. Can ‘flap’ closed inside only under certain conditions, to begin with, causing it to seem intermittent/smoke while looking okay at first glance.
Thank you. I will strip them off and give it a proper look over at the weekend. The EPB has a fault red light and beeping it's head off as well.

Don't use it till you have time to look at it then, otherwise it could get more expensive.

Try to see what the adjustment is like first off.

Have a read of this lot mate, I've been through it a couple of times now, twice with the TDV8s and once with a Discovery 4 SDV6. The TDV8 manifolds you can bond back together, the V6 you can't so that's yet another reason to have the V8.

I have finally had a free 20 mins to plug the Snap-On diagnostic thingy in and the only code I get back is P023D which shows as Sensor A pressure etc. etc.

Unless someone has a magnificent idea, I'm going to start by replacing the hoses and go from there...

For the 4.4TDV8 that code shows this.
Its a good chance it is the same for the 3.6.

Yeah, I'm starting with 2 new hoses and working from there - everything I read suggests it's hoses.

Or a split manifold. What is the rest of the of error on P023D? Is it a boost correlation issue? That will be different to the 4.4 as the 3.6 runs the turbos in parallel not sequential so there's a different algorithm for it.

It didn’t give anything else, just the code and then some description about irregular flow on sensor A

It’s a TDV8 so I think they run sequentially.

I had similr on my 08 TDV8, engine warning comes on going up hill and t random on the motorway for a week or two,, the message was something like reduced engine power. It ran very nicely otherwise. Took it to my local indie garage who road tested it and the engine suffered catastrophic failure. No.4 injector showed a problem, when remover no.4 cylinder was full of engine oil. We never did find wht had happened, that ws going to cost more than the car was worth. I'd lready had tan inlet manifold replaced. Be careful out there!

No engine warning lights come on, it simply comes up with ‘engine system fault’ and reduces power.
Stop and turn it of (or do a rolling restart if you’re clever😉) and the problem vanishes.

Yes, that was the warning I got! It was a very expensive message. Be careful!! Stop car,, restart and the message would go away for a while, then come back on at random.

So, I think I have discovered the fault…

And I’ve replaced both hoses with smart blue ones!

Now to road test!
