Troubling you lot again with sh*te i know, but my 4.0 is too quiet, I need the real V8 sound not the muffled version, I cant seem to find a backbox to fit, Theres no second hand ones on eblag and i dont fancy paying top price for one either, I know i can get a universal one welded on but wondering whether this will give the desired effect, Have searched around and cant find much on the issue.... Any ideas? Thanks.

Get a stainless steel cat-back witn no silencers made up from a custom exhaust place as a start........if you want louder then get the manifold aswell.;)

Universal boxes are ok for boy racers. But I would recommend a properly made system. Janspeed make systems for Range Rovers. Or have a look in mags like PPC, performance classic, Land rover mag.
Or search the net for a custom exhaust company. Loads out there. I assume that you have cats so you may want to look at cat replacement pipes aswell. Also I'd advise changing the manifolds for tubular ones as this does help with gas flow and sound.
Oh and make sure you have the vehicle tuned afterwards as it can lead to engine trouble if not done.
I fitted a full stainless system to my 3.9, sounded much better and was more responsive, and slightly better fuel economy. Oh, also look at getting an induction kit like a k and n kit. Not a universal job.
And remember one thing. It will never sound like a yanky V8. They are a lot bigger engines.

Don't know what sort of use the RR gets but bear in mind that an exhaust note that sounds all rumbly & gets envious looks around town can turn into a really tiresome & headache inducing drone after a few miles of motorway driving. If you go down the road (no pun intended) of headers & custom exhausts don't forget that your insurers will class that as mods. & probably 'adjust' your premium accordingly.

fit a janspeed cat back system about £400 if thats not loud enough remove the cats but only if you run on lpg :)

I thought the same...too limp wristed for a V8....so went for Janspeed Full system....no cats....twin singular tail pipes and happy as 'larry'.....sounds like being followed by a TVR....yum yum !! :D not the cheapest, but quality costs and P38 not cheap at best of times....mpg seems to av increased too ?....better breathing maybe....

Thanks for the advice people, Probably just going to cut out the middle box for now and put a piece of pipe in there..... A stainless system will come........ In time..
