Hi i havegot atd3 which will not let me select diff lock as there is no sideways movment on gear lever has anyone got any idears thanks

thanks for the reply as far as i know it is a td3 the difflock knob shows sideways movment but nothing happens when i try it i took out all the linkage and cleaned it up but the shaft thro the top of the housing would not move . i looked in my workshop manual but it is all different should this shaft move

Landrover Discovery comes with Tdi200, Tdi300, TD5 ... there isn't a TD3 in the range.

Unless you mean a Discovery 3 ... post a picture of the vehicle.

it is a tdi 300 as for posting a picture i would find walking on water easier computers are hard work

my guess is you mean a 300TDI and the mechanism is seized because it has never been used. If it is a 300TDI you need to strip down, get the seized bit in a vice and wack it with a hammer...reassemble with a layer of copper grease...and then use it regulalry

but not the wacking with a hammer he means gentle taps and you can just get to the linkge from underneath but dont no if you can get to tap it soak the area with wd 40 and keep trying it

first things first - get a high pressure jet wash and spray up around the Gbox & T box - It is amazing how much mud can accumulate around there. Then give it a good spray with WD40 or similar to try and penetrate the linkage. Better still get someone to wiggle the linkage whilst yu are underneath getting covered in ****e.

Once yu have the linkage free, give it all a spray with spray-grease to try and protect it from more mud and corrosion.

He already said
i took out all the linkage and cleaned it up but the shaft thro the top of the housing would not move . i looked in my workshop manual but it is all different should this shaft move

WD40, power washing and tapping with a hammer wont help...its needs to be removed from the car (by removing the centre console) and disconnecting the linkage.
