After having my transfer box changed yeturday i now have a very noisy clutch bearing and its very hard to engage 1st gear 2 isnt easy but the rest are fine??
i also noticed when acelerating hard from 40 onwards a high pitch whine (sounds simular to the turbo)
can someone please shine some light as the lad who did it says i need to give it time to bed in!? which sounds like BS to me?

Is there oil in the xfer box? Sometimes they are noisey in low range as they dont get used that often but not normally in high range.

Is it a used xfer box in which case there is no "bedding in" time as it would already have done any.

where are the gear linkages thats what i was hopeing??? and the transferbox is a newly rebuilt jobby, does the transfer box play anypart of normal driving gear changes?

noisecould be poor input gear some times they can cause whine, depending on quality of gear and quality of build ,why 1st and second diffiicult ,?clutch not clearing or block on lever ,what age of vehicle, no transfer box doesnt play any role in gear changes

Not gear changes but the xfer box is constantly turning under load otherwise drive does not get to the props.
The gear linkage is simple - it merely changes the xfer box between hi and lo. It either works or it dont.
Did they remove the whole gearbox to change the xfer box? If so they may have disturbed the clutch release bearing. The xfer box can be separated from the gearbox without having to disturb the main gear box or clutch.

supposably the gearbox was not touched....?
but the thrust bearing was silent before hand? whilst changing gear with the engine off, the clutch makes near on no difference depressed or not?

clutch wont make any difference with engine off only when running ,sometimes too long a gear box to transfer box bolt is fitted to top drivers side ,just under hi/low housing ,check reservoir level for clutch and pipe work tp slave cylinder

thanks! ive checked the fluid levels and their all good, it seems to me thats the problem that the clutch doesnt quite get enough throw (if that makes sense) it engages but not quite enough. the chap who did it said it could be that the clutch fork is breaking and causing this but it is a new heavy duty fork fitted approx 2 months ago?

poor master cylinder or slave ,clutch master cylinder rod is adjustable under 6x screw plate on pedal box ,does it look like slave or bell housing bolts have been disturbed

ill have a look. its hard to say about the bell housing bolts as this was done last week due to a leaking crank seal thanks v much for you help!

so gear box has been off recently ?same time as transfer box ,release arm and release bearing might be fitted poorly as shifty mentioned ,full story helps with possibilities

sorry it all began with a rear crank seal failing which was replaced 2 weeks ago after that no problems with gear select but i always had a noisy transfer box so then yesturday the transfer box was replaced which then left me with this problem now? ive had a look at the slave cylinder adjustment and its currently at the end of the thread not leaving anymore adjustment.
