Hi all,

Am trying to change the transfer box oil seal. The part the shop gave me is ftc4939g, but it doesn't look the same as the one on it.

The number on the one currently fitted is ind51568

Any ideas?

Is this a replacement somehow, or the wrong part I've got?

Bah damn u buster :p , my un edited post had the oil change link in it and was just looking for that one --- beat me to it again :( :D . hope alls well up your neck of the woods mate ?

Thanks again buster. I have been following that guide the whole way through. Although its taking me ages because I only seem to get the odd hour here and there.

My new seal looks a bit like the one you took off yours. But the one thats on it does look different.

I still dont know how to get the old one out though. You dont mention how you do it. Is it just a case of prying/cutting it out with whatever I can find, or is there a more tactful way?

And do you think this FTC4939G is a replacement for IND51568?

ftc4939 is replacement for frc7043 as was fitted, pry out old one with bar /screw driver etc, fill reverse with grease to hold garter spring in place they often fall out when seal is tapped in ,seal is different on front face as later output flanges have different mudshield which pushes against raised seal edge
