Well we put it through an mot on Saturday to hopefully yet it through. Unfortunately there were 3 pages of faults  most were just loose bolts that I left loose to adjust things and parts I knew that were missing. Brought up a few things I'd missed which is very useful :) one of the major things that it brought up (not part of the mot) was that the rear diff pinion bearing had failed. I was going to change all the oils anyway but this was a surprise

The oil came out like mud

Even through I've got extended breathers and everything was sealed sitting in water at Bala last year before I took it apart obviously isn't good for it :p

So lots if sealing now to try and keep it out

The front wheel bearings also had play so stripped them down and found yet more Bala mud

Renewing them too then :D seems like no matter what you do to seal things it still gets in :p

Rear diff Is changed I'm very happy with the new one. No play at all and the half shafts are in brilliant condition on the front axle. Actually everything on that vehicle was in great condition before I broke it for parts which is good for me as I've got the parts :D

If anyone's after a empty front axle casing I've got one now I don't really need :)

Mud will have got into diff through pinion seal, if shaft had play this is not surprising.

24 spline hubs are a PITA cos they're not a great seal on the drive member

Hugely recommend HD drive members with screw on cap cos they have O ring so you can pack with grease in front and behind and then screw on to seal, the grease saves your drive member splines from wear also :)

Yeah there going to be an investment soon :) I've put some silicone around the ends of the caps to try and keep some mud out but it won't stop all of it :)

That's what I do on mine, and it does work .. for a while .. ;)

timing wouldn't affect the psi, unless the rpm is very very low maybe?

I know that bit I just think it's 2 seperate problems the timing being out is my thoughts for the rough running and the low pressure is to do with the pump (you have to remove the timing belt to get to it so might aswell do it at the same time )
