Hey guys new to the forum and am looking at making my first landy purchase.
Have seen a discovery for sale in need of a new torque converter so I started looking but can’t find a new or refurbished part are they hard to find?.

Any ideas where to look and what kind of price they sell for?.

Hey thanks for the reply. Yeah I had seen a couple on eBay but fancied somthing a little more guaranteed, any ideas where to get a refurbished?

I would say that if you are considering buying a Disco needing a TC that you budget at least a grand to 1500 in the price, and thats if you are spannering yourself.
The D2 will have to be cheap or very nice in every other respect.

Yeah I was thinking around that for the work, I won’t be doing this job as no time or space currently.

Replacing a standard TC is not that difficult, but finding a V8 one is becoming difficult. I would start by speaking to Ashcroft who may have a refurb one in stock. https://www.ashcroft-transmissions.co.uk/miscellaneous/torque-converters/torque-converter.html
However, when I needed a V8 one for my TD5 they had nothing in stock and no idea when one would be in. I finally found a decent one at a breakers, had them send it to Ashcroft and had them refurbish it and supply with the adapter plate. I reckon the total cost - buying the TC, having it refurbed, buying the adapter kit (which you don't need) and having the TC installed by a LR specialist was about £1200. The labour cost of fitting was higher than planned as they had not fitted an Ashcroft adapter before and consulted with them a lot. I reckon you will have change out of £1000.

Hey so click thanks for the info that’s very useful and probably moves this vehicle out of the maybe pile as it puts it over it’s value really.
