Does anyone know how big of a tire will fit without modification right now im running 215 65 16's i will be fitting new winter tires i live in austria and we get alot of snow so i would like to stick with a 215 as a wider tire generaly doesnt preform as well on ice and deep snow. Will a 215 75 or 215 80 fit without rubbing issues ???

I don't know from experience, but even a 215 80 only adds 6cm to the diameter, so you should be fine. If you do get rubbing it'll only be at extreme suspension travel and then you have an excuse for a 2" lift ;).

However, I'm sure others on here will be able to give a more certain answer.

215-75 or 215-80 will make your speedo illegal. 195-70-16 would be narrower and closer to the rolling radius of the 215-65-16s. True speed 59.4 MPH at an indicated 60. The other two sizes would give true speed of 63.8 and 65.6 at an indicated 60.

Except the speedo under-reads by some margin. Many people, myself included, have tested over-size tyres and speedo readings against GPS and measured road sections. In my case running 215/80R15 (notionally +4.6%) gives a true 59 at an indicated 60 (from speedo and from OBD)
