I have a set of 88" panels for my 110. I currently have a 9 seat csw, but i hardly ever use the rear 4 seats as I habe a dog cage in the boot for my Ridgeback. I really like the look of the newer Utility model.

Should I replace the windowed panels with the 88" solid ones, or keep the glass ones in?

Glass windows are never opened
Glass windows are less secure
Metal panels could be Dynamat soundproofed and carpeted, to (slightly) reduce noise

I'd still keep the seats in case i take loads of passengers

What you think? Am I just fiddling with the Defender for the sake of fiddling?

when i first built my 110csw I put 88 van sides on it - was great using it for rough camping/lanin etc, trips down here to Portugal where good as rear kept cooler with no sun coming in. but once living here and exploring the local lanes which more often than not required some long reverse driving i found the van sides to be a pain, so put the window sides back in. thevan sides are going back in again soon as the 110 is being turned into an expedition 110 - so thinking of security (limited i know - but out of sight and all that)and to keep the sun out of the sleeping area - van sides do make a big differance to the temperature inside the rear area so would be of benefit to your ridgeback.

I think if you don't know what you want then how the bloody hell is anyone else sposed to know? Do what you want ffs you can always change it back again.

ffs Stiggles, its good to have ya back, but couldnt yu have chosen a more similar handle - some of us old folks get confused easily, ya know?

bmp42, cheers, very useful...
hughesy, read bmp42's reply. gives pro's and cons based on personal experience.

**** it, think i might just buy a lovely green 1965 defender 90 I've seen on Ebay!!!

I take it you have a "factory produced" utility, as opposed to what I'm planning on doing..

Does the bulkhead go to roof level, ie the boot is totally seperate to the seating?

Mine will have straight through access, which is a benefit.

Yes and no. I have a solid wood bulkhead from the follr to the roof. It is factory fit by landrover special vehicles and some other company. I have thought about hacking it in half and fitting a piano type hinge

'Ere Mikeb.... Just a thought. but have ye thought about tinting yer back windows? Was just thinkin' of the dog and if ye needed to see where ye were goin' backwards etc. If ye're worried about security then fit some grilles;)
