The well covered sunroof issue

First I apologise for a topic that has been discussed more than the existence of Santa but anyways...

Out came to roof lining today due to ridiculous water leak. Driving to work the other day the water literally cascaded down the B-pillar and down the seat belt (thankfully my coat was waterproof) but I don’t just mean a drop it was pouring.

So water test carried out and highlighted very little, the drain point is obviously leaking but after 10 minutes of hose pipe it only dripped once.
Looking at all the drain points 3 out of 4 are leaking but I was genuinely expecting more water to pour in due to the amount that flew out that morning.

Is there a possibility it’s backing up and pouring down the gulley when I’m accelerating?

There only two seals to stop water ingress via the sunroof, identity which one is the faulty, or to save replace both.job done.

A hosepipe didn't show much on ours but a heavy downpour was dramatic. If you can, park the car uphill when testing with a hosepipe. Although I have two new seals, they weren't needed as sealing the frames properly and sorting out one of the drain spouts cured it.

I had a Saab 900 if you parked it uphill the minute you braked or went down hill you got drenched from sunroof clearing drain pipes sorted that...first time it happened was early morning on the way to a meeting all suited up... great impression I made but broke the ice... Lol

The drain tubes are only at the front so only drain if the car isn't pointing uphill. Would it have taken the sunroof manufacturers much to fit 4.

Look at a D1 or 2 sunroof and understand the design, and you should know why. It’s because the glass tilts down at the front before sliding back.

They still don't drain while the car points uphill, so obviously the drainage isn't effective. If there was a drain on each corner then the water would drain outside rather than inside.
