I would well be giving one of the folk on here a crate of beer apfor them to write a report staing your chassis is bent.

Why?

Well you could get yourself a brand spanking new galvanised chassis out of this.

I feel sorry for both you and the old man. Sorry for you being all excited with your new toy and then this happens to take the shine off it.

And sorry for the old man as we all hate to admit we do actually grow old!

Got back from walking the dog yesterday and some f***ing w**ker has scratched all up the side of the courtesy car pulling out the woods car park and driven off! Rang up the council and there are no cctv cameras or anything. WHYYYYY ME :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Don't worry I'm still here.. But with nothing to report, car was finally assessed on the 8th an I was told it would take up to 4 days to find out what the deal is. I rang the assessors last week and they said that staff were off sick or unable to get to work due to weather, fair enough. Rang them yesterday and they 'may' have lost the record of the assessment and they will let me know within 48 hours but may need to come assess the car again.

So yeah, Landy is still sitting on the drive smashed up and I have been starting her up every 3-4 days to keep her alive.. Only good news is that the old boy accepted liability as expected and that my courtesy car has a excess waiver being paid for by old boys insurance so I don't have to worry about that.

Oh and the old boys insurance company want me to drop my courtesy car and get one with them instead because it's cheaper, one of the cars they have is a 5L v8 rangie so might have to go for that!

If yours is a doosel and the supply a petrol keep all fuel recipts and log yer milage because they is liable for the excess money you spend on the fuel because there car uses loads more juice so you are outa pocket due to you having to drive there gas guzzler rather than your oil burner cos of the accedent !!!! i.e. claim fer everything including yer flask that got damagaed ;)

Yeah I started out thinking I wasn't going to bother with that, trying to rinse them for everything I can, but then I figured it would be a open and shut case and the landy would be back on the road after a few weeks.. But it's nearly a month since i opened the claim now and absolutely nothing has happened and it's ****ing me off

It doesn't make sense to me, the longer they take the more they have to pay out on my courtesy car so surely it's in both our interests to get the whole thing done and dusted asap.

I think this is going to drag on for a long long time, I could just start repairing it and hope they write it off but knowing my luck I will have it nearly back on the road and they will say they aren't writing it off and want it repaired! Can't f***ing win.

Hi mate or there playing the waiting game, whereas they offer you a crap offer hoping after all this time you accept if you not happy refuse it !

Thats not gunna work if it's what they are doing! I owned the car for 2 days before it was hit and a have a reciept for the amount I paid and I won't take a penny less than that. I don't see how even a insurance company can argue with that.. No wait scratch that they will find a way

Out of interest does anyone know roughly what the scrap value will be that I have to pay to keep the car?

This will be very interesting as to what your offerd can't wait :)

Sorry never had to buy anything back Fortunately, but I'm sure someone on here has

Hmmm, maybe they expect the claim to take a while longer than expected,
or,
they hired in the current curtisy "car" on a short term lend only to get themselves shafted by the weather/time its taking.

I can only say my son had a brand new HGV push him sideways at Dartford Tolls one morning at 2am,
lorry driver said just cannot see anyone under front nearside !!
admitted fault there and then, the french company`s english office supplied curtisy car within 24 hours,
son had it a week, in which his old bucket of ****e yoda corrolla was taken for assesing..
three days later son got an offer, he accepted, had to return hire car,
collected the yoda, got cheque in post soon after.
yoda got a jetwash, a T cut,
and got the dents banged out a bit with a touch of filler.
was back on the road in no time "at the time"
year later (few days ago) we scrapped the yoda locally for £140.

the old bucket was a good earner all round ;)

but then we have read of your distinctly different claim here mate,
ongoing aggrivation allround.
as I take a big sigh, just maybe the choice of hire car explains your need for that type of vehicle, at which the claim has become more specialised perhaps?

sit tight, keep hold of the hire car(s) for as long as you can,
as added costs will eventually push the claim to a conclusion,
and we all hope. into your favour...
chin up & enjoy the realiability and comfort knowing your not adding miles/wear and tear on your landie eh...

At the moment I have a hire car through my insurance company which will then send the bill to the other blokes insurance company, so the other blokes insurance company have contacted me directly and asked me to take a courtesy car from them instead because it will be cheaper for them (my insurance company is rinsing them basicaly, giving me the best car they could get and will all the extra's on the hire policy too).

I thought this would take about a week like your son's claim, it's a open and shut case and the other bloke has already accepted liability. They just seem to be delaying for no obvious reason or perhaps they are struggling to place a value on my landy or work out the cost of repair.. who knows. If I get the full price I paid for the landy and they want say £500 to buy it back then I will DIY it and probably come out with a couple of grand left over so the whole thing might turn out OK after all.

Thanks for the kind words though mate, I will try and enjoy the hilux as much as possible, especially now i know I have an excess waiver on my policy so even if i write it off it won't cost me a penny :D

Nooooooooo dont even think of it,
baaaaaad karma and all that.. LOL

shant tell of my sons borrowing my disco, a hill, a foe par with the handbrake, a telegraph pole and getting his shopping out of the rear doors..
pole won. disco front bumper partially lost!

disco won it back via a lump of chain & yoda corrolla before it was scrapped.
chain on bumper end to yodas rear towing eye,
Yooooooooo 5 times to pull it straight... LOL LOL

LOVE my `ol disco....... :)

Got a cheque for 4 grand yesterday to do the repair myself, which i'm hoping will cost about 2, and the car isn't written off which is good.

Just a ball ache and a lot of moaning to get there..

Ok, I spose you`ve lost your hire car, but gained a big wedge ££

you could budget for the cheapest make do fer now car you can buy,
while yours gets repaired/rebuilt.
even a little doosel van/or estate is wheels but Ideal fer collection landie bits in eh.

good luck anyway...

4 grand its gona look PIMP !

Yeah! I am going to use this opportunity to put a galvanized chasis on and shed load of other bits; snorkel, station wagon windows in the back and roof, raptor dash, heated windscreen, heated seats, steering guard, fuel tank guard, cb radio and maybe an a-bar with some spots.. I'm gunna be skint this year!:D
