like its ruling my life this fookin noise!
got to be something little and obscure that's getting overlooked, going to start again tomorrow right from the start, cooler and everything back out its got to be something to do with that-that's when it came about and everything that could have a chance of making that noise has been changed (i think) gunna try testing the hoses under pressure even though they look OK and get the cooler back in the washing-up bowl with the foot pump attached!
 
sorry to keep bringing this back up- you lot must be as sick of the subject as me by now.
spanner in hand in the rain all day again! new timing belt, tensioner & idler, water pump and yet another serpentine belt...............
STILL THE FOOKIN SCREECH IS THERE!!!!!!!!!!!
so now pounds and hours later its had:-
all turbo hoses checked,checked and checked again for leaks
intercooler tested
3x serpentine belts
new top turbo hose
fan removal
water pump changed
new timing belt
serpentine tensioner bearing changed
new timing idler
new timing tensioner
expansion tank cap changed
eight stitches and a cold!!!!!
now fast running out of ideas, hope and patience

Hi Daza, I can't remember, have you got it diagnosed as the belt/tensioner combo? If yes, have you tried the penny trick?

What I am about to say goes against all my engineering training and practice - but it works !!

You put a penny piece in between the engine and the tensioner assy - yes, I know, load of bollocks, but it still works.

tried the penny thing to no result-apart from fraying the edge of the belt,
RAZ- they say put a penny at '9 o'clock' between the tensioner mount bit and the engine block, but as i say did nowt for me!

Weeks of searching and replacing has come to an end!
cooler and hoses out again today for the FOURTH time, cleaner and new clips at the ready again. top hose off cleaned gasket seal on and back on with new clips. bottom hose(metal one) off - sprayed the cleaner down and there it was! piece of flaky metal came shooting out, shone the mag light down and the tube is peeling! airline blasted down, stick with sand paper stuck to it and loads of carb cleaner down it.
all back together went for a spin and NO SQUEEK!:D
now as quiet as a mouse/well a mouse with a drum kit! got a little bit of belt/pulley noise with all the fookin about with them but i can live with that. now the only noise the missus can moan about is machinehead blasting out the speakers!!:eek:

bout fooking time! nice one! and after all that yer know she is mechanically tip top ancillery wise now!
feel alot better now mate!
anyway like ya say all for the better with the belts and timing and stuff, and the water pump wasnt in the best shape! everything's been looked over time and again and loads of bits changed so should be good running for a bit:)
