as to insurance, theres so many fb etc. posts related to this that any investigator will 'know' what happend before the claim paperwork lands on their desk :rolleyes:

personally I think a 90 is too short to tow a 130 and that trailer also contributed to the incident:confused:

ultimately it's the driver that is responsible.................

definitely, impossible to judge what stresses those straps have been subjected to, but they all need binning.

Yes, short tow vehicle with a heavy and high load and look at the over hang of the 130 (is it actually a 127 as it is an A reg??) out the back of the trailer.

However we cant assume it was the drivers fault, for all we know someone cut him off, drove out in front of him, had a stroke at the wheel - any number of things - so i would be hesitant to point the finger at the driver without all the facts.

I hope now one was hurt, real shame that a 90 and a gorgeous 127 were damaged though :(
 
If used commercially then a tacho is required over a certain weight, which is certainly under 3.5 t

However in the UK there is an exception connected with so many miles from base. However unsure if Ireland has different regulations.

The trouble with the Ivor williams trailer is the wheels are under the loadbed which means vehicle sits quite high, our farm have a 15ft one, however i borrow my mates Brian James car trailer if i need to move anything any distance as the wheels are outside loadbed so load bed is a lot lower and therefore so is the load.

Having tipped a lot bigger trailer over a few years ago,, the fact the straps held will aid the drivers defence.
We cut mine under the watchful case off the Police Officers in attendance and i didn't get done. Despite a 40K insurrance claim.

and we closed the road for 2 hours...lol

Be interesting to see if there any gradient or incline on that road, the common error is trailer break away on the downhill in numerous trailer related incidents, as long as all parties are unhurt the rest is just metal and glass..
 
I believe a deer jumped out in front of the driver. This looks like one of Trevor Cuthbert Landrovers restorations, I'm sure he'll sort it out properly. He's the Irish agent for Richards chassis, so if it needs another new one, he's the man.

Think he was probably holding on tight and only he and his underwear will know how scared he was...

I have had one get away a bit on the M11, needed all 3 lanes, proper trouser moment as it was downhill took ages to gather it back under control. was lucky kept it out of the kitty litter..

And yep your in charge of that outfit regardless of who loaded it or who it belongs to etc..

here you go @v8250 40k insurrance claim for the cars, we didn't claim for the damage to the trailer, plod spent 30 mins looking round it before i told him it was 6 weeks old. Trailer bent step only damage we had. No skid marks in any area either.

It was a very odd thing to watch in the mirror i can tell you as it went over

i had been flat out into the built up area,( 43Kmh) slowed as it was busy and then as i eased round a slight bend i looked in the mirror to check distance of trailer to parked cars and thought that's odd...

i can see the back pack of bales, covered the brake pedal whilst still looking in the mirror and it all went left.

The Odd thing i stopped almost dead but then thought i was going backwards as the parked cars up my inside were shot forward...odd sensation.

was also quite a sight watching to 80 year old ladies turn and run...tell you they didn't hesitate or think just turned and ran.. but guess they prob survived the blitz...lol

Youth of today would have been too busy texting and been squashed flat.

Took the farm about an hour to clear up then 2 hours with plod at the farmhouse for statements etc.

But if your ever unfortunate to tip a trailer etc over don't cut the straps until plod are on scene and have had a good look round we took loads of pics i had two witness saying i was going slow and the trees had been hitting the load last mile or two.

We were under height and under weight with modern equipment. we were very helpful drafted in machinery etc. in fact time plod turned up i was directing traffic and the farm had an empty trailer and tractor and telehandler on scene

Could have enlightened them a bit on possible cause but didn't..

Took them 6 months to inform me that i wasn't going to be prosecuted..

legally we can run 5 bales high, after that we run at 4 high, they are a bit lively 5 high

no, quite, you misunderstand me, is what i meant was that the driver isnt necessarily clueless, and there could have been a whole host of contributing factors out of the drivers control

everything is slow mo when you cash, when i barrel rolled my Golf GTi i swear i had enough time to alter the clock, put my seatbelt on, and light a fag before everything sped up again......

Sadly it probably won't be worth the paper it's written on.

The report will all be second hand info to the officer writing it up and in a case like this, which it looks like only involved one vehicle (2 technically!) and hopefully no injuries, then they will not write a hell of a lot. I have seen worse accidents where the police report was shockingly lacking in any detail.

Officer is going to turn up to that, think, right, something happened here, OK everyone is OK, OK licence check, trailer weights check (which is what they would be more interested in, a prosecution and not actually document then accident) OK - jot that lot down. Right, off for a coffee at the station. Unless it is fatal accident or very serious involving multiple vehicles committing offences then they don't care as technically apart from the road closure this accident may not even warrant police attendance.

I've had the police ask me on the phone while at an RTA, "Is anyone injured?", when I said no they were not going to come, but the bint who ran into me insisted - she seemed to think they should waste their time coming out for a pushed in sill, oh and the front of her car missing.
