Was about to make just this point.

Car 'Manufacturers' don't manufacture every single item they use in the construction of a car, they outsource to a number of different suppliers.

Likewise, Britpart probably don't manufacture many (if any) of the parts that carry their brand - they are sourced from the same group of suppliers that the car manufacturers (like Land Rover) use to procure their components.

If Britpart import a lot of Chinese/Indian parts then that is a concern and would put me totally off buying the brand, it wouldn't be easy to identify though if they also brand parts from OEM suppliers as people have mentioned in this thread.

Maybe we should petition Britpart to put a 'Country of Origin' label on their products, like fruit and veg :D

you have 100% of **** all chance as we have asked them to come on here repeatedly

Could it be that Brit Part are secretly watching this thread and maybe scratching their heads going 'Hey lads, maybe we need to get our act together?'

Help ... I just went out to MM4x4 to pick up a front prop for my Landy, prepaid over the phone and guess what? ... yep, it's a Britpart prop. As it's an easy job I will fit it tomorrow and it does have a 12 month guarantee so I guess I'll keep the receipt and take both halves back in the summer (if it lasts that long). As I am going to fit it and there are no grease nipples on it is there anything I should do to it that may help prolong its life? :flame2:

Props not covered by their 'new' 24 month warranty????

They seem to be campaigning pretty hard to get the 24 month warranty message out there - full page ads in the last 2 LRO magazines I've bought referring to it.

There are bound to be terms and conditions, props might be excluded.

Thanks for that ... I subscribe to LRO and LRM but seem to skip past the BRITPART ads. That is a little more reassuring though, seems props are covered by it so I'll definatley file the receipt.
All the best. :)

the 24 month warranty is all very well, at least it means you can have a prouct for 2 years.

However, I would rather it just not fail! I have had various Britpart things and I have been dissapointed (mainly with anything that has a seal!) so i wil not buy those items again.

Have they improved the quality of the products then? Even if they have, the old stock is still kicking about so you will never know if you will get the "better" stuff if that is the case.

I'm removing me timing cover tonight as i have an oil leak, those that know i fitted new ( britpart ) seals last week, so unless i've cocked up somewhere it could be down to the seals themselves.

If it is, i'm looking forward to Britparts response to the question as to why it's leaking after 7 days

Brake Components; I had some wheel cylinder which as you tightened them up to the back plate the studs came out of the body of the cylinder. mind you i have seen photos of wheel cylinders with no thread on the studs.
I am told in other rover sites they last half as long as reputable makes. i had a lift pump that failed at 1000miles, the only time i was towed home in the land rover!
Brake shoes don't fit.
Most folk i speak to have a story which tells of poor quality from the blue boxes!

i have not read the terms and conditions for the 24 month warranty. but it would`nt surprise me if the parts have to be fitted by a "competent" person, in the eyes of britpart. which is always going to be open to interpretation. just a thought.
