lol some interesting opinions on this post... I do use britpart stuff but not for mechanical items such as uj's or water pumps etc... nuts bolts the odd bush and bits that don't really matter yeah of course cos its cheap! But you get what you pay for dont ya! :)

If you pop down to Christian autos in Kingswood he'll only sell britpart parts that don't fail. If a party is suspect he wont stock it.;)

The trayback which I bought a few months back came with a Warn 8274 at the front and a Britpart DB9500i at the rear; the BP one didn't work, naturally!! I thought it was the solenoid to begin with until I delved deeper. The BP unit is now in the bin and will be replaced by a 13000lb Warrior winch on Friday;)

Dunno if that's entirely Britpart's fault to be fair. It looks like its been left for a long time with water in it. The difference being that with premium brands like Warn it's worth repairing them.

I bought some BP side lights. The screws didn't fit in the cut outs for them and one of the lights only had one electrical connection.

Went to fit new britpart gearbox crossmember today, looked strong and well made and slotted into place with little trouble. Captive nut's promised a quick fix in position until it was found they had no thred in them! Grrrrrr.

I think my very squeaky aux belt is BP so will have to go to the main dealers sometime for a non squeaky version.

A friend changed his diesel P38 in tank fuel pump and used a ****part replacement. Within a month it has failed!!

Not even worth complaining really they dont seem to change lol

ordered some stainless caliper pistons and rebuild kit for the defender.

although i ordered the wrong size  they are very nicely made. No bad tooling marks.

I also ordered genuine seal kit to compare against the britpart stuff. no difference. they are using genuine seals in the kits.

we'll see what happens when the proper size comes and i fit them ;)

Ordered an air filter for the 110, turned out to be an allmakes branded filter. it's nearly 6mm longer than a std one and as a result the end section of the housing doesn't close up, as it hits the filter. Had to make a gasket out of some 10mm adhesive backed foam sheeting that i had. should of saved me dosh and bought a ****part one.

they are alright, same with allmakes and britpart. they don't make the parts but buy them in, so they are really part suppliers.

sometimes the parts are great, sometimes a bit ropey.. britpart tends to be on the ropier side as a greater percentage, however they probably ship a lot more product.

saying that, i still order britpart stuff for some items. you can usually tell if it's any good by looking at the build and finish quality.

btw, oem or part numbers ending in G are meant to be from the genuine supplier.

this again is a bit murky as it seems a lot of companies class oem/g as from an oem supplier.. but that doesn't mean it is still an oem supplier or that it was oem for that part.

it's all a bit sketchy isn't it :D

in general, buy branded (timkin, delphi, trw, etc) for things that are a bugger to replace or that need to be of good quality. ie oil seals, wheel bearings.

lrdirect usually lists the brands, island4x4 too for some things.

I was told when i first got a Land Rover that "if you need to rely on it.. don't use Britpart)
so for clutches and seals I always buy the best my piggy bank will allow ;)

Here are my tub rear quarter panel experiences.
First impressions were fairly solid panels - looked good.

Tried them in place on the tub and problems began to emerge.
This is the new one up against the original. You can see the difference in the construction

Anyway, cut that bit off and thought I was back on track.

Tried to fit the new panels to the tub and found this.

The section shown by the red line is about 4mm deeper than the original. This caused major issues and I had to cut part of the inner wheel arch off with the angle grinder to make it fit. Nightmare
