The 3 amigos but a little different?

Hi everyone, I picked up a 2001 TD5 this afternoon and all was well on the test drive, Of course within a few minutes of handing over the cash the 3 amigos came on. To be honest I was expecting something, it is a Landy after all, but before I set about fixing it has anyone got any pointers from these symptoms?
Start it up and no lights.
If I drive off without touching the brake pedal then all is well.
A light touch of the pedal (to turn off the cruise) and no lights.
Enough pressure to start braking and after about 1 to 2 seconds they come on.
Ignition off and they are off again...........

+1 for a diagnostic code reader, but it has to be a compatible device.
The diesel Disco 2 isn't fully compliant with OBDII protocols so many of the cheaper devices just won't work, they'll just be a waste of money.
There's nothing different about your fault symptoms, the 3 amigos are usually triggered from the SLABS ECU (Self Levelling and Anti-lock Braking System).


BTW, there's no need to touch the brake pedal to disengage the cruise control, you have the means at your fingertips, literally. Just flick the "RES" switch to disengage it. A second flick will cause the vehicle to resume the previous speed you set. Another example of the "RES" switch use, say you're travelling at 70 mph and you wish to slow to 60 mph, flick the "RES" switch and the vehicle will start to slow down under 'engine braking', when the speed hits 60mph, just flick the "SET +" switch.

I get the 3 amigos come up if I’m braking hard and turning left, it’s my front left sensor causing the issue. Lights go out after I turn it off and on again. I will change the wheel bearing at some point
 
Thanks for all the replies, it's 'fixed itself' at the moment but I am sure it will come back! So that I don't get bored it is now sitting low on the passenger side................

It's highly unlikely that the fault has "fixed itself", it's just more probably that the indication hasn't been triggered recently.
You're going to have to get the fault codes read and any historic codes cleared before you can proceed with the job of finding and fixing the actual problem.
Rest assured it won't get fixed without you doing something about it.
 
Discovered mine sitting low on the passenger side the other day too. Time for some new springs and shocks I think!
 
My discovery 2 TD5 on the M25 I had the 3 amigos come up on the way to Great Yarmouth 160 odd miles into the trip had a grating sound and vibration through the steering, ended up ended up being lifted home. Now I’m 99% sure after reading this post it’s the front off side wheel bearing, should I do both sides, as I did replace both sensors on the front because they lite up earlier in the year, also seen the the hub bearings on island 4x4 for just short of £60 each (bearmach/all makes) OEM ones are just short of £200 each any thoughts, what should I expect to pay for fitting?
