Temperature Sender - Which is it?

I'm looking for some help.

Can anyone tell me which is the one is the temperature sender. I'm assuming it's the one between 10 and 12. If this is correct, what is the sensor between 12 and 16 and why do I not have a wire for it?

My temperature gauge is playing up and the head is only have been done. There is condensation in the gauge so it's either the gauge or the sender.

Any other suggestions?

Should the one between 10 and 12 not be the water to heater?
What is the start of your engine number?

Did a search for 12J engine photo's and most showed temp sender in the 10-12 position this one shows in other position.
So looks like either position though the 10-12 is using adapter to change threads.

I think both are temp senders. My current head has 2 in it, both work. In your case maybe one stopped working and is seized so they left it in and installed a new one where blanking plug would normally be.
