Hi everyone when i have been going to start my discovery the last week or so it seems as though the engine is seized or something is sticking as when the engine turn s over it starts but is vibrating and shaking the car as it does it and then it goes normal and runs sort of fine.

Anyone have experianced this?

Thanks

Yeah it seems too never had this sort of problem before. It sometimes makes a grindy noise and doesnt engage but 2nd turn of the key it does but this happens. The problem doesnt occur when warm only first start up after not being started to engine is cold

it seems it's not running in 5 injectors on start up...did you check the ECU red plug for oil?, or you bettre check the upper plug cos if you find oil there it's the same sh*t and you need new injector loom asap, also when did you change the oil in the engine lately, and what kind of oil it was?, "broken" low quality oil, faulty injector loom and dead glow plugs all together can make you such kind of trouble

Thanks for that i will start checking things over and sèe what i find as it hasnt been serviced since september so i will order a service kit asap and get that done too. How hard are the injector looms to replace?

the injector loom is piece of cake, you need the loom and a new rocker cover gasket, see this www.discovery2.co.uk / Workshop /Injector Harness but if i was you i'll do that too on the same move www.discovery2.co.uk / TD5 Engine - Injector Seal Replacement , then you can rest your mind in that area for a while
Okay will get some parts ordered today and see what happens hopefully this will solve the problem as if i dont get it sorted it will be getting sold for something jap

@ James - mine does this a bit in cold weather. Are you getting any white smoke one she has fired up?

It's useful to understand that whilst the engine has 5 cylinders, there are only 4 glow plugs. This means that on cold starts they can be a little lumpy initially.

Bearing the above in mind, if your glow plugs are getting a bit aged, this will make cold starts even lumpier.

Mine is like this in this cold weather but is fine once she starts to warm up. Have got some glow plugs in stock and need to get on and change them.
