td5 disco to rangerover

I all. looking to sell my td5 disco later and quite fancied a sawp for a 2002 rangerover from my mate. obviously he wants mine and cash but was just wondering if this era of range is any good as my other mates in pub are all trying to convince me its a bad move. He has had a few niggles with it but nothing unusual for 10 year old motor. A bit worried about the fact that he is on original clutch is that normal.
 
That was my main concern tobe honest getting in a ranger with cow snit boots and wet cloths just didnt sit right. But somehow its fine in the disco.
