Td5 cranking but wont start help!

Hi all, My 04 td5 normally fires on the button every time. Yesterday it seemed to struggle, but did fire up, I then drove it approximately 1/4 of a mile and it konked out and wont start!! It was like it's fuel supply was immediately cut. There is no oil in the ecu and I have fuel to the inlet manifold.. no lights are on. What could this be??

could be a few things
like a fuel blockage ie filter or
fuel system drawing in air... or a vac lock ie fuel cap breather
bad fuel contamination ..either by purchasing bad fuel or coolant entering the fuel system via the injector sleeve seals

or possibly a bad fuel injection relay ..try renewing the fuel injection relay or swap it with another known relay

this once happened to me my fuel pump In the tank sounded like a screaming cat ..until eventually it would konk out occasionally.. I installed a fuel pressure gauge to try and find the issue ..the fuel pressure gauge told me I had 60 psi before and after the head ..I then renewed all o rings and combustion washers on my injectors ..she never has missed a beat since

I was going to mention also about the crank sensor ..but I'm sure only the crank sensor and peddle sensor throw a engine light on these ..

Give it 5 consecutive full throttle pedals with ignition on II then wait untill the MIL warning stops flashing, if you can hear the pump working in stages and you hear a hiss in the engine bay during this sequence and if it starts well after that you'll have to replace the injector copper washers(and the seals off course but the washers are the culprit), if you can't hear the pump or that hiss then the pump or it's circuit is at fault.... do that and come back with the result amd we'll see

Thanks for reply.. just purged the pump seems to be working fine, how ever no hiss under the bonnet and my m light and s light are both flashing?

transmission error or low batt voltage

disconnect the batt then try again or charge up the batts due to the long cranking process

I have just finished with my xyz switch ..it had water inside of it .bloody air con drip pipe leaks water onto the conduit and gets in .so I have just lengthened the drip pipe with a piece of garden hose ..and cleaned my switch ..you will have to drill out the rivits to open up the switch

Update, thanks for replys.. I got some time yesterday to try and get it running again.. I got it running on easy start but it sounded like it was only running on 4. I've took the plastic pipe off that goes into the inlet manifold.. stage 2 on the ignition a day fuel dribbles out and when turning it over, it doesn't change.. could this be blocked filter or pump related?

remove the fuel filter and place a bucket under the filter housing and turn on ignition fuel should pour out providing fuel is in the tank
this means you have flow but does not indicate pressure
as for the plastic pipe in the inlet manifold
the fuel lines run to the rear of the head and the return is at the front of the head (unsure about yours as my fuel return runs back to the regulator ) so depending on what fuel line you removed was it supply or return if it was the return line this this could be any thing from a duff regulator screen gauze blocked fuel filter blocked or pump not pumping

has any one messed around at the fuel pump via the inspection plate lately could be a fuel line on the wrong way
or a fuel line come off on the pump inside the fuel tank
but first I woud check if you have fuel coming from the filter housing is so then chase it further forward

If you want to make sure about fuel pressure remove the FT sensor from the FPR and insert a fluid pressure gauge instead of it, the thread is M12 x 1.5, if it's around 4 bar it's ok

Thanks for replys guys.. turned out to be the pump in the end.. but all sorted now.. on to the leaky sunroof now!
