Hi All.... Wife tried starting disco today after been out in it earlier but it wouldn't start she said it was turning over but not starting and a couple of lights were coming on and flashing and it was bleeping from the dash. Had a go myself when I got home and on my first attempt it turned over then after a couple of seconds the hill decent light and the rear ride height lights came on at the same time and it started bleeping. This happened the next time I tried then on my third attempt it did same again but also felt like it wanted to start but wasn't getting enough fuel (1/4 of tank in it) so I put my foot down on the accelerator pedal and it started to start but failed when I let key off. On my fourth attempt it did everything with the lights and bleeping again but I kept my foot on the pedal and it eventually fired up....Tried it a few times after this and it's just fired up as normal...Anyone any ideas?

sounds like low fuel pressure. Pressing and holding the accelerator causes summit like 3 times the amount of fuel to be chucked in if the engine doesn't start after summit like 10 revolutions.

Sounds like air getting into the fuel lines somewhere.

This is what I would be doing:

With the drivers door window open, reach in and turn the key to pos. II so all the lights come on,but no starter motor.

Then go to the rear offside wheel and listen - can you hear the pump working and is it gurgling?

Assuming your battery is ok, leave it purging like that for up to 3 minutes or until the pump stops. (If your battery is not ok, it could well trigger the warning lights during the starting atempt as there are insufficient volts to operate the starter and feed the ECU's at the same time. If this is the case, charge battery overnight and try again).

Then start the engine - DO NOT TOUCH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AT ALL DURING THIS START.

If it starts ok, that proves it's an air problem. In which case the first thing I would be doing is a fuel filter change.

Hi All....Problem cured I think... changed the fuel filter and replaced one of the brass pipes coming off the housing that had a perished rubber o ring in it .... seems ok now.
