Td4 oil in coolant only when towing

hi, i have a td4 on a 2000 plate just had new oil cooler fitted the header tank is clear on day to day running around up to temp but the minute i start towing the trailer or caravan i get an oil like scuze at the top of the tank any ideas?

I would keep emptying the coolant out of the reservoir a few more times before investigating it as a fault.

The coolant systems are very very difficult to completely flush once oil contaminated.

cheers hope this is what your saying and the extra pressure on the engine is blowing the left over oil and crud out of the cooling system.

Hi I've got a similar problem, having changed
the oil cooler, the black residue keeps coming back.
Has yours stopped now ?

the problem is when you are towing the engin gets hotter and therefor the oil residue will move because it is thinner being hotter
