Do these make any difference or are they a waste of money? Mine has already been remapped by a previous owner.

Well . . . .i personally think its a waste of time ,Optimus idea is the best and one that most do , the valve itself is an engineering folly , the idea being that waste ignited exhaust is hot and double burnt hence reducing emissions . . . .the truth is it gunks up your inlet manifold hence increasing pollutants and decreasing engine performance [just undo any valve or inlet manifold after 20k of motoring to see how much gunk is blocking the engine breathing]. . . .so to cut to the chase ,Optimus idea is the best. . . .:)
 
Hi, I suppose it'll be different for each car, but it made a big difference to mine. The week before I ordered mine I did the disconnect & plug the vacuum hose trick & it felt a little better on lighter throttle settings, but when I replaced the whole unit with a bypass the car feels much more lively & responsive. My car had done 54,000miles & the original egr was quite sooted up which probably explains the difference, but I definitely recommend one.
 
According to the seller of mine & other info I've come across including LRO magazine it won't affect the emissions in a bad way & should help them (cleaner combustion = less soot particulates which is what they measure at the MOT). It'll only take half an hour at the most to swap the old valve back on should you ever need or want to, so well worth doing.
 
Hi, The guy selling on ebay only lists one at a time, usually a search for "TD4 EGR" will bring it up. If not listed, keep trying as he will list his next one within 24 hours. His ebay username is wingy777 & he lists the same valve for Rover 75 & BMW 320d, but contact him & he'll sort you out. P.S. Well worth fitting.

A lot of us with the same engine in Rover 75s and ZTs fit these, with equally good results, especially if tuned (with a Synergy of course).

you say plug the pipe but which end do you take the pipe of off is it the end closes to the front of the engine which is conected to a round siler metai type thing sorry new to this and would like to try this thanks
 
At the front right of the engine (as you stand in front of the car) just under the right side of the air intake manifold thingy there is a round valve. It has a rubber hose that has a braid over it about 6-7mm in diameter running to it. Pull this hose off the EGR valve and block the hose with a screw/bolt etc and cable ty out the way.

ok found guy selling these but do they come with everythink to fit it and fitting instuctions only in picture on ebay looks like a bit of tube lol thanks

The bypass comes with instructions & you don't need anything else other than the bolt & cable tie to plug the vacuum hose which doesn't come with it.
