TD4 Diesel EGR Bypass Valve

I fitted EGR By=Pass to my TD4 and after day or so the engine makes a whinning sound after I switch it off as if a motor was spinning free and slowing down. Any ideas? At first I taught it was the tubro slowing down but dont think that is it. I Am confused

Found this info in wiki makes me want to disconnect mine "In diesel engines by feeding the lower oxygen exhaust gas into the intake, diesel EGR systems lower combustion temperature, reducing emissions of nitrous oxides. This makes combustion less efficient, compromising economy and power. Diesel EGR also increases soot production, though this was mitigated in the US by the simultaneous introduction of diesel particulate filters.[5] EGR systems can also add abrasive contaminants and increase engine oil acidity, which in turn can reduce engine longevity."

and thats why you get an egr bypass fitted

Hi chaps.
I tried the disconnecting the pipe from the EGR valve and plugging it as per above post, and didn't notice any difference to performance, but when I turned the engine off, some valve of something made a long growling noise for a few seconds.

How do you stop this, and what is it anyway?

its the egr solenoid

If you look just to the left of the battery there should be a black plastic pipe with a few other small pipes T'd into it, on my car the EGR solenoid one was the one nearest the back and also the largest T like a marshmallow with a pipe going into it, just make sure it is connected to the EGR solenoid under the front of the manifold, then cut the pipe and put a couple of small bolts into the cut ends. That's it Donald Duck silenced for ever.
