Hi guys having loads of grief trying to get my TD4 started, have had all the usual checks done by landy specialist,ie compression test, fuel pump, injectors, relays and fuel pressure switch all to no avail with no fault codes showing either, also checked for leakages. Is there any chance that the camshaft sensor could give me this problem when cold. The car bump starts first time or with a little shot of easy start but if i turn it off I get the same prob. When running it doesnt miss a beat and will tick over happily forever.2 injectors, battery and fuel pump and filter later and im gettin desperate any ideas .
Any help much appreciated
Cheers Dave

Battery voltage, glow plugs, glow plug relays. Maybe the starter motor is on its way out, is not spin the engine over quickly enough.

Thanks for the reply mate,i have fitted a new battery and the engine turns over no probs. The landy specialist said the glow plugs wont come on or need to because it only needs the heat when temp is low. ?

very unusual to see glow plugs come on a td4 even in winter, then only for less than a second. Although you have tested the injectors, have you tried a leak back test ?

engine needs equal pressure in all 4 injectors before starting, if one leaks back a little (via fuel return rail) then it won't start, but it WILL run after bumping or with easy start.

Hi pal,yes injector leak back was checked by garage,2 injectors changed and other 2 removed and checked and compression test but still wont start. Is the camshaft sensor a red herring with these symptoms. Thanks for reply mate
